Afforably Price Clamp-on Ammeter with Inrush Meashurment
I needed a clamp-on ammeter to measure inrush current on my 5T AC compressor without breaking the bank. My primary use was to verify the manufacture claims on a Soft Starter locked rotor current reduction an most clamp-on meters do NOT have this function. The reading from the HT208D is within 0.1 amp from the value shown on my Soft Starter app so very satisfied. This is a task specific ammeter however it does have all of the features needed for electrical unit measurement including AC/DC voltage.

Very capable meter
For weeks I've been trying to figure out why a 1200W inverter couldn't start up a 500W window A/C. I tried all combinations of suppressors, batteries, cables, etc. and suspected the inrush on the A/C itself was very high. Within the first 30 minutes of owning this meter I had the problem figured out. Inrush current measured around 20A which (just barely) exceeded the 2400W surge capability of the inverter. Mystery Solved! I've been doing non-invasive surge and A/C current measurements in combination with a Tacklife line splitter and learning all sorts of things about the appliances in my home and shop. It is helping me balance outlets, breakers and wiring in a way I hadn't before. Some reviewers complain about the minimum 10A current needed to trigger the inrush measurement on this meter. I found a way around this. The Tacklife has two loops, 1x and 10x. Buy clamping the meter in the 10x loop I am able to get good results between 2-10 amps. Very nice meter, much less expensive than the Fluke 375 and UEi DL489, two other meters I considered.

Functionality, durability and pricing
I’ve had mine for 2 years now in the field. It’s been wet, dropped and bet several times over. Can not bet the price for all the fictions it provides. A name brand meter with the same functions will cost 4 or 5 times the amount I paid for mine. Although would be nice if it was a little more water tight. Had some corrosion on the battery terminals but cleaned that up and still works like a champ.

Works as advertised. Has a few qwirks
Bought this meter as I am too cheap to buy the Fluke product of similar functionality. For me, it's my "house meter" for fixing and repairing. Purchased this mainly for the clip on AC and DC current measurement and the inrush feature. For home and hobbyist use, I'd recommend buying this meter as a general purpose accurate "do everything" meter. If I were a professional, the qwirks might annoy me. It is accurate and produces the correct measurement so for occasional use, it's 5 stars. PROS: Accurate, self ranging meter. Does what it says it's supposed to do. Good value for the $ Easy to read display Defaults to DC. For some folks, this is annoying, but good for me. Comes with a thermocouple Type-K temperature probe. CONS: Some readings take time (a few seconds), like resistance. Really too slow for pro use. Most annoying, but certainly OK for occasional measurements. Probe plug-in ports are both red. They're marked +/- correctly buy easy to plug wrong. I marked the negative port black with a marker. There's a temperature display that's always present. Nice, but always in C and can't change to F. Instruction book is minimal. If you know little/nothing about electronics or electrical measurement, you'll need to learn about the functions this meter performs elsewhere. Flashlight function provides minimal illumination. Phone works better as a flashlight. No calibration instructions. For lab use, there's no method to align to a calibration standard. Can you use this for real contract "work"? Absolutely. Don't know how it will hold up, but it will give you proper measurement information. you can trust. Would I use it for contract work? No, the qwirks would drive me nuts. But if you can't afford anything else, it's fine. Bottom line, good meter for occasional use. CAn measure most common electrical parameters accurately.

Love this meter!
There is very little this clamp meter can't do. The leads are nice but I also got a different set with attachments I use on circuit boards. The only negative is the live voltage detector, it's so sensitive as to be useless, it could have just been left off, I think most people use separate sniffers for that anyway. Also the screen is harder to read in the sun but I haven't used it in the sun so it hasn't been an issue. If I have to I think I can deal with it.

Does the job but has some issues
The hard case it comes in/with is pretty nice and it's test leads seem decent. Possibly silicone however the biggest issue is the display is virtually impossible to see out in any daylight. It looks nice in darker conditions but forget about it in the daylight. Also my Uni-T brand clamp on meter is much more accurate than this brand in just about every selection. Other than those substantial issues, it appears to be a reasonably decently built meter with plenty of features.

Quality
I was looking for a honest and reliable clamp meter. After watching many detailed reviews I have decided to buy this one. Very good quality, measurements are within spec range, not exactly a fan of AAA batteries but they seem to last a while. Screen looks very nice, unfortunately can be hard to read outdoors in sunny conditions. I'm very satisfied with my new toy 🙂

Tres pro
Cet appareil offre de bons résultats et une excellente précision en courant continu. Sa capacité à supporter jusqu'à 1000 V CC convient parfaitement pour mesurer la tension des panneaux photovoltaïques. De plus, sa conception est très robuste.

Great All in One Meter. Especially useful for Solar and Off Grid Use.
This Kaiweets HT208D clamp meter is extremely SOLID. And extremely good value. The dial works well. The display is fantastic. The meter has very good features for AC and DC and it wasn't too bad to learn how to use it for a non-electrician. While the In Rush function is supposed to be for AC current only, I've seen YouTube reviewers say it also works for DC current, though this is not in the user manual. A Tip: To best use the InRush function, also buy an AC Line Splitter to use for measuring appliance/motor InRush current, as otherwise, you would need to split the cable to be measured, as the clamp is supposed to ONLY go around 1 wire, the hot wire and not 2 or 3 wires as in Hot, Neutral and Ground together. Kaiweets does not seem to sell an AC line splitter, which IMO they should. Klein has a nice small one but it has no price on the Amazon.ca site. The dual position line splitters can be unwieldy to use in some outlets, as it falls out due to being long and then having the appliance plugged in to the far end, while the Klein line splitter is smaller, grounded and is less prone to fall out of the outlet. Using a line splitter means you still only measure the hot wire and so you do not have to cut into and damage your cable to get at the single hot line/wire. Measuring AC and DC current with the clamp is a breeze and voltages with the beefy but soft and pliable and very good silicone wire and probes makes it a great multi use meter and especially so for solar and off grid use. The clamp easily fits around 4/0 cable and accurately measured DC Current, as well as AC Current. Measuring appliance or motor AC InRush is a HUGE help as not all off grid inverters, especially low cost High Frequency inverters that don't use big heavy transformers, can handle high inrush currents and the inverter sellers and some manufacturers don't tell you this and over hype their inferior products. This meter will tell you what the appliance / motor inrush current is so you can ask the inverter manufacturer if the info is not in the specs. The 2 cons for some may be that the display is apparently difficult to read in bright light outdoors and the flashlight is blocked by the clamps so isn't all that useful. Oh and it has a useful NCV function via the clamp sensor that works well though and reports on the display, by sound and by a Red or Green LED. As well, there are 2 pots inside that can be used to calibrate voltage readings to fine to meter. It also displays an ambient temperature reading in the display in some modes, as well as coming with 2 temperature probes. As well, it has a very good warranty. While I had a decent Klein multimeter already, I waited a long time for this Kaiweets to go on a the best sale price I'd seen and then decided to get it for the AC InRush function and the DC Clamp function for my off grid solar needs. Not sure how much I'll use the Klein now, although Klein I have, is not a clamp meter and has fewer functions but is much smaller than the Kaiweets HT208D. The Kaiweet HT208D goes on sale occasionally and when it does, don't sit on the fence, as that makes it an even better value. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Lo mejor por el precio
Ka he estado usando para mí trabajo y sinceramente tanto la resistencia, presicion y funciones que tiene la pinza es bastante sobresaliente por el precio sin mencionar su capacidad de medir hasta 1000A de CA y CC
