Perfect, exactly like the pictures

This was a great father/daughter project! I worked on this with my 5-year-old, who obviously couldn't have finished it on her own, but this is a very well-made model with nice, clear instructions and lots of things for a younger child to do! For instance, the various dowels are called for by length, so she got to sort all of the dowels and check the lengths when we used them. And the overall assembly, while it needed some direction from me, was great because the gluing and assembly were very straightforward. I'd definitely recommend this kit for a fun parent/child project!

2 hrs is a joke. That’s how long it takes you to fix your mistakes. The instructions are fine AND very detailed. You miss one clue and you’ll spend an hour trying to fix it. Con: they don’t give you extra pieces. If you mess up you will have to fabricate a new piece. I am a very experienced model builder with and without instructions. This is definitely not a 9 year old model. On the bright side if you get it all together correctly it does have a certain beauty to it using multiple da Vinci designs.

I've bought two of these for the 9-year-old boy I nanny as gifts for his birthday and Christmas. We absolutely love working on them together. Not only are the instructions clear and the steps easy enough for him to do by himself, but they look really cool displayed in his room once we're finished!

Cool model but you have to read the instructions and study the diagram carefully

This is a gift I got for my dad so we could put it together. It was great fun and came with everything that was needed. Once we had it together, it worked very well and was a cool gadget for his office desk. Was a great buy and gave us something fun to do together. The quality was good too. ^.^

Ornithopter looked cool and my daughter was very excited to build it for a school project. However upon checking the parts list it was missing two pieces and two pieces were broken. We were on a deadline and didn't have time to order another one. I had to make the pieces that were missing from scratch and wood glue the ones that were broken. The broken pieces were the thin long main wing pieces and were not easy to fix. I would avoid this kit.

The only reason for the two is it appears the box may have been opened. The main bridge was broken and a couple of other things, such as misaligned pieces, per my husband. He's built all of the da Vinci models. I offered to return it but he wanted to try and fix it. He completed it but it wasn't as fun as the others due to the pieces. If it wasn't broken, it would be five stars for sure.

This is a beautiful kit - and really good quality as well. It takes some patience to put together, but well worth the time you invest in it. Set aside at least a weekend if you're keen to build it in one go. Please note the measurements mentioned in the description - We were pleasantly surprised at just how big this ended up being after building it. For me, it actually seems much larger in real life than in the pictures. This was a gift for someone who enjoys building model kits and they absolutely love it.
