I’ve been using this machine for over 3 months now, and it works really well. The taste of the coffee is the best! It’s easy to use and clean, and I love how you can wash all the parts separately. Since we drink filter coffee every day, this investment has definitely been worth it. It’s a bit pricey, but totally worth it. I just wish the water tank could be removed and washed separately—it would make cleaning even nicer.

Positives + Looks great and high quality, unlike the majority of plastic filter models out there. + Makes nice consistent coffee. + Mostly easy to use. + keeps warm without a hotplate (But..see below) Negatives - Not cheap, but I managed to get a customer return at a discount. - The temperature is not 'super' hot. Fine if you drink black but not if you are pouring into a cold cup and adding cold milk. I like hot coffee and I find it best if the vacuum walled carafe is rinsed out with hot water before use and you heat the mug/milk before hand too. - The carafe doesn't keep the coffee hot for long - but that might be unfair because I only use it with the pouring lid so that probably lets heat out. It also comes with a fully sealing lid (never used yet) - The carafe lid can be a troublesome to screw on. The threads are (too) big and you need to line it up right. Not a big deal but occasional a faff. Would I buy again? Yes

My old, basic, coffee machine was showing signs of expiring and as I can't manage intelligent engagement with the world before drinking a pot of good coffee this situation needed remedying. I had become increasingly annoyed with the way the elements burnt out on them after a couple of years of daily use whether one paid a little or a lot. I was also less than happy with hot plates that unless carefully watched overheated good coffee into something evil and dripping non-drip valves. With this in mind I did some research and found the Moccamaster. Something uncomplicated that offered a 5 year guarantee, spares and had tackled the things that annoy me seemed worth a try and though pricy wouldn't cost more than buying a standard one every couple of years if it lasted. This arrived and I set it up and brewed up. I was really impressed. It is so fast, purrs rather than wheezes, has a simple but efficient design and makes a really superb cup of coffee. The carafe keeps it wonderfully hot and the non-drip device works. I was also relieved to find that it is off-white in colour rather than a yellow cream than doesn't look out of place in my black and white kitchen. I had had misgivings about spending so much on a coffee maker but my scepticm was overcome with this first potful. It really makes marvellous coffee. If you want timers and personalised settings this may not be to your liking but if you want a repairable, beautifully engineered machine that does what it promises to do this is the one to get. The only caveats are to remember to let the metal outlet arm cool down before touching it as it gets very hot and not to be too gung-ho about how much coffee you use as it efficiently extracts every iota of flavour and caffeine from the recommended amount. UPDATE : After six weeks of use and making great coffee the electrics on the float mechanism developed a fault. So the light didnt work as it was supposed to and it didn't empty the tank reliably. Plus for some reason the whole machine had developed an inextricable bad wobble on its base. I am very cross and have returned it. I thought the high price of this was justified by the reasons in my original review but this has not been the case. Even more worrying, the company didn't respond to the product support team despite repeated calls which I found less than good. So I can't recommend this product.

I work away from home and often in different locations and have therefore used a lot of different drip coffee machines. I am in no doubt whatsoever that the Moccamaster is the best one I’ve used. It is a bit pricey for a drip coffee machine, but it makes such a perfect brew every time (assuming you get the ratio of grind to water correct and grind to the size you like). Highly recommend these if you are a coffee lover, coffee snob, or just like a cool kitchen gadget as I still love watching the water bubble up the internal clear tube and listen to the machien brew away.

A very good coffee maker just a shame most of the construction is great however some parts are plastic and not that strong. It makes good coffee looks good and is easy to use, The insulated jug benefits from being pre warmed with hot water just before use if you want the coffee to stay hot for a long time. Without any pre warming my coffee was hot enough for an hour.
