The cam covers were cast with different addatives than the newer ones. Therefore they are harder. I should have used a harder blast medium. That was my fault for not knowing what I was working with. I used the harder medium and then finished with the walnut shell medium. The covers are now smooth as they should be. Hope this helps someone down the line
