Best baby monitor we've tested — just know the subscription will get you
We bought the Nanit Pro with Floor Stand when our second was born and it's become one of those products we genuinely rely on every day. The image quality is excellent - sharp in daylight and surprisingly clear in night vision. The app is well-built with no crashes or connectivity issues, and the configurability is deeper than you'd expect (sensitivity zones, alerts, sleep tracking). One underrated feature: it works perfectly over a phone hotspot, which saved us when we traveled. Build quality is solid. We did have the floor stand collar crack after about a year of use, reached out to Nanit support, and they shipped a free replacement no questions asked. That kind of service earns a lot of trust when it's the device watching your kid. The one thing to know going in: the subscription tiers are where they make their money. It's easy to get hooked once you start using the sleep analytics and video history - replaying those little moments from the night before becomes part of your morning routine. It's a real cost on top of the hardware, but honestly, having a searchable archive of your baby's first year is something we'd pay for again. Strongly recommend for any new or expecting parent.

Awesome monitor
My husband and I were terrified to bring our premature baby home without some way to monitor her breathing. She had some episodes in the NICU where she stopped breathing so we ordered several monitors just in case when they told us she was ready to come home. This was the one we kept. It’s so comforting to know that if she stops breathing, we are alerted right away even if we aren’t in the room. Putting on her breathing wear sleep sack is part of our baby girl’s sleep routine and she loves her “blankie”! The alerts for sound and motion are a little obnoxious (we live on a busy street so big trucks driving by set off the motion alerts and sirens set off the sound alarms so we even get them when we aren’t home) but it is awesome whenever she’s in her crib because we know if she’s waking up or whatever. If you are deciding between this and the owlet, we preferred this. It’s an investment in peace of mind and super helpful. It even has a nightlight and sound machine built in! My only complaint would be that I wish I could turn off the sound for when the baby is out of the crib “too long”. Sometimes it wakes her up just before I put her back so I have to remember to turn off the monitoring as soon as I get her out to nurse/rock/change/bottle her. It’s really cute getting to see the little updates/videos too! I didn’t think I was going to love it this much but I’m so glad we got it!

Best baby monitor ever!
I had been pining for the Nanit Pro baby monitor for months. I had been seeing their ads all over the baby sites and apps (Babylist, WTEWYE, Baby Center) and I loved that it was a more modern baby monitor. The fact that I could use my phone as the monitor was a MAJOR plus. I hate all the old school monitors with horrible picture quality and it's just another thing to carry around. Anyway, fast forward a few months and now I have my Nanit Pro and I LOVE it! I love that my husband and I can both be connected because we can access from our own phones and we can even let her grandparents have access to checkin on her from time to time. It was also super easy to setup. We went with the floor stand rather than wall mount because we may want to adjust the placement or even potentially travel with it. Definitely think it's worth it. We haven't bought all the accessories we want just yet but the breathing band alone is the greatest thing. I had heard of the Owlet before but I wasn't into the idea of having to strap an electronic device to our baby. Wrapping her comfortably in the breathing band is so much simpler and less concerning. We'll be using the sleep sacks once we're done swaddling her. We love all the stats we get on the app like when she fell asleep or how many hours she slept for. I'm obsessed with the Sleep Dashboard and Nightly Summaries. Overall, the Nanit Pro is awesome and I would highly recommend it for any new parents!

From a deaf parent…
The Nanit Pro is an excellent product for so many reasons. The ability to view our daughter through the video stream, the built in night light so we can see what we’re doing when we need to take her out of bed, the built-in sound machine, and the video recaps to give us a sense of how long she’s sleeping consecutively. Highly, highly recommend this product. Now for my fellow deaf and hard of hearing parents…one of the reasons we chose this monitor in particular is because of the ability to push notifications from the monitor to our phones and smart watches. However this is where I discovered a major limitation - there is no smart watch that allows me to customize the length or intensity of the vibration alerts so it wakes me up when she cries at night. Which is super unfortunate, because the Nanit is excellent at picking up on her cries throughout the house and not just right next to her. I’ve tried multiple other systems and they just don’t match the sensitivity level of the Nanit. During the day, it’s great because I can be anywhere in the house and receive the quick buzz to let me know she’s crying. But I’m still working on the night piece. With that said, I’ll keep searching for a solution for my particular needs, but as far as baby monitors go, we love our Nanit!

The Best Baby Monitor
I tried out a radio baby monitor before Nanit due to concerns over WiFi hacking/security. However, soon after my newborn arrived I realized that carrying around a baby, burp cloths, my phone, and a monitor was too much. I opted to switch to Nanit to have the baby monitor on my phone. I have absolutely loved the Nanit. The picture quality is unmatched by the other monitors I’ve tried, including the Nest cameras. It has all the features we need and even puts cute little videos together as your baby grows up. My newborn is now a toddler and I have a new, newborn, and we have been using the split screen feature every night. I continue to use the original camera with no issues and bought another for the new baby. As a bonus, my immediate family also loves being able to check on their grandkids/niece and nephew. It makes our out of town relatives feel closer. The only con I can think of is the price! If you can afford it, this is one of my most used baby items.

Good product with $$$ stand
It is a nice looking and functional product. Camera itself worths the money spent. One thing I was annoyed about is nannit STAND being too expensive. It's just a stand to hold the camera, does the price really need to be this high? Also, for any first time moms out there, I thought I would use the breathing bands more frequently but I ended up not using them at all during my baby's newborn phase. Baby is swaddled up to sleep for first few months and you won't be using it much. I never got to use the small size band.. Hopefully the medium size band is more useful when our baby starts sleeping in a separate room. Besides the pricy stand, it is a good product. You can see your baby wherever you are (in or outside of house) and gives you a peace of mind when you are out and about. Movement and sound detections are good.. Nannit night light function is also useful when changing diapers or feeding overnight.

Highly recommend. So worth it we bought a 2nd.
I originally wasn’t happy my wife spent so much on a “baby monitor” when there were less expensive options that were good enough. And why not just get a cheap indoor WiFi cam instead? This is a camera built and developed for a specific purpose and it performs that purpose incredibly well. Now, I’m such a convert that I bought one for grandma’s house. The night vision and picture quality are terrific. We haven’t used the breathing tracker or growth tracker so can’t comment on those. The sound and motion notifications work perfectly. Two way audio is a nice addition. We love that we can get notifications on our phone or iPad. “Background audio” is a nice feature to be able to switch away from the app and still hear what’s going on. My wife and I travel for work a decent amount so it’s nice to be able to check in from anywhere in the world. Our internet went out once and we could still keep an eye on our little one through the local connection. We don’t really use the analytics but they seem to be pretty good. Temp and humidity are great features as well. The only real drawback for us is spending extra on the yearly subscription and that’s really just to have access to past events beyond 24 hours and stored live video. Otherwise you can only look at events for the past 24 hours. One thing I appreciate is the continuing development. They just added split screen for dual cameras. We won’t use that yet but it’s nice to have and nice to know they’re working on adding new features and answering customer feedback. Final say: Buy it. You won’t regret it.

Overpriced and doesn’t work, returning mine
I liked: - decent quality camera - looks good - Insights are useful - at least the trial is a long period, they are letting me return after 42 days! Didn’t like: - at $300 this camera is expensive - insights are another expense on top (+$300 per year) - breathing wear and baby monitoring function doesn’t work once your baby starts to move around the cot. I stopped using after a few weeks. - the red lights for night vision are distracting for the baby - the measuring function doesn’t work except on one type of cot, they easily could have got that right by putting a pattern throughout the sheets - too many alerts, constantly alerting for every movement (even a finger movement, and often for movement I could not see in the video) or sound. Like even when you are trying to put the baby down asleep, your phone and/or iWatch is buzzing away and lighting up as you are moving around the cot 🤦🏻♀️ - inconsistencies in the video, such as repeats of actions like putting the baby to bed, or deletion of hours of footage (e.g I set the camera to record from 6pm to 8am, but often 4am to 7am would be either missing, or sometimes added to daytime summary) - I was constantly getting emailed with unhelpful questions to my questions, and their support emails were not easy to read as there was no flow to them, so you would have to scan the 50+ emails to try and find your response, which could be “we received your email” or just the same questions over and over, lots of rebooting, lots of disconnecting the camera - once you lower the cot when the baby can sit up, the view isn’t as good and no way to Zoom into the area you want to see I think the extra functions of this camera only work for a very short period. So you really are paying a lot more (like double or triple the price of a good range Motorola for example), but the camera is still quite unreliable and inconsistent. I am returning mine - they give you a long time to return which is good, as after weeks of going back and forth with their customer service, I decided to give up and return mine…

Excellent Camera for your Child
The order and product were excellent. The seller was super understanding and was able to provide me the product way before its intended date. Excellent follow up and was very friendly along the way. This is my 2nd Nanit (I bought this as a gift for someone) and as a 2 year user, it's been a great camera for our child.

Bad service for an expensive item.
I ordered the camera and the floor stand and guess what? They only sent me the floor stand but no camera. It is an expensive item but they did not check it before it is shipped. Very disappointed with the service.

Works like a charm!
We love the Nanit system. Easy to use, great updates and functions, and camera works well. However I do think it is expensive and probably other cameras are better quality and less expensive.
