What is the tray height? I am looking to dry a non-food item that is 1 inch tall

I don't know the actual height but it comes with 4 trays. However each tray is approximately 1 inch tall. We have used our Hamilton Beach dehydrator with great success. Also good instruction booklet with receipts

Are the trays plastic? are they bpa free?

The video stated that the trays are BPA free

Can I just use 1 or 2 trays if I'm only dehydrating a small amount or do I have to put in all the trays?

You do not have to have food on all trays but you need all trays stacked on the machine while drying foods. Right now I have 4 filled trays and 1 empty tray running. If I had planned better I would have had all 5 trays filled to make better use of the energy.

What is the temperature range?

Temperature can be set from 100 F to 160 F.
