Would this keep something from coming up from the drain? safe?

It depends on the size and strength of the "something". I would say would keep insects from coming up, but a Florida python or baby Alligator would rip right through that drain and eat up your naked self .

Do i even need this if i have a 3" drain pipe? i do have fairly long hair, as i've been growing it since 1864...

You would need something to catch the hair, ESPECIALLY, if it's long . Long hair down the drain is a major cause for clogged drain pipes. If not this one, some type of drain to keep it from entering the drain pipe.

Is this good at catching hairs?

Yes. The hair may be caught around the edge of it instead of on the top sometimes, but it stops all the hair.

What are the dimensions

It's 4 3/4" overall, including the 1/4" silicone edging. Essentially flat, with no protrusions on underside. The edging is the only thing that keeps it from sliding away from drain hole. You could put a dab of silicone underneath to hold it, but it does catch hairs on top of very small holes and needs to be cleaned from time to time.

Really effective, catches all hair. Previous reviewer mentioned it doesn't work if the floor is not perfectly flat, I have not had this issue on our floor which has a gentle slope down to the drain.

Haare verstopfen nicht mehr den Abfluss

Das ewige putzen und auflösen der Haare hat weitgehend ein Ende. Der Haarfänger brachte eine wesentliche Verbesserung. Der Haarfänger rutscht nicht über dem Abfluss. Er ist sein Geld wert. Gerne empfehle ich diesen weiter.

Does the job

Does the job, I just wish it was a little heavier but that’s not a deal breaker. It’s still a good solution if you have one of those shower drains that keeps getting blocked because it doesn’t have a mechanism to collect hair and shower products. Ours was a nightmare to clean and unblock as we needed to take it apart and physically extract the blockage with a wire and brush pretty much every week. Whoever designed modern drains to be so inefficient?? Anyway, this did solve the problem.

Solo per piani doccia piatti

Ottima fattura ma va bene solo per chi ha un piano doccia completamente piatto e privo di cose in rilievo in quanto altrimenti non aderisce e non compie il suo lavoro. Inoltre il diametro e’molto largo quindi va bene per chi ha il buco dello scolo non in prossimita’di un angolo.
