Absolute no-brainer application. Looked like a bad match at first but perfect when dry
#2 Yellow Pine treated fence pickets about 8 months old (very dry) when applied. I used the Dark Walnut and am VERY satisfied with the warm medium dark brown. When I had to order the second 5 gallon can I stopped after 2 pickets because the color was WAY darker on the second than the stuff I had already completed 3 days prior. However, as it dried over the course of 1 day it blended perfectly. Seriously I was VERY hesitant to keep going because it was very dark compared but don't worry if that happens to you. Coverage was 215 Six foot tall 5 3/4" wide fence pickets with a 6" rot board at the bottom (all good side of the fence with no 2x4's to cover or 4x4 posts). I used a cheap pump sprayer (don't waste your money on an expensive one because you do NOT want to use a pump sprayer for applying this product as the only way of applying it. It will take 3 times as much stain easily if you do. I used the pump spayer to spray a good wet area on about a 1' x 2' area of picket and then an 8" roller brush with a thin/medium nap to quickly spread it before it soaked into the wood and was no longer spreadable. It does go on MUCH easier on a cedar picket because of the oils in the cedar. I would say that cedar will take 1/2 to 1/3 of the amount of stain that dry pressure treated pine does. I only had a 5'x6' section of cedar but wow what a difference on consumption of stain! Very little compared. The rot boards took in a lot less stain as well due to their more milled/slick surface. The pump sprayer really helps to get the corners soaked so you don't have to work quite as hard to get the stain worked into the corners. I am wondering how long this will last and look good for though.

Great stain and sealer
Great stain and sealer, I used this stuff on my cabin and it's still holding strong. 5 years and not much color loss. Great stuff.

Best stain I've used as a painter of 25 Years
This product is by far the best stain I've ever used. I purchased the dark walnut. With 2 coats on new decking. The customer was so happy ๐ with the end results. So was I. She came home and said I made the pine decking boards look like Teak. And they truly do. You can't go wrong with this stain. I would recommend this to first time diy ers as well as polished pros like me. It made my job much easier thus product goes on even, it's goof proof absolutely no runs whatsoever. Very easy to use and excellent results. Although a little pricey than some others the quality of this product is well worth the cost. Some stains I've used that cost double this price I would now pick this one over any other. I highly recommend this. And will from now on be using Ready seal myself even for work and personal. Flawless application ๐ try it

AMAZING - The 10K+ five star reviews are right!
This stuff is amazing! My parents turned me on to this after using it to stain and seal their log cabin in the mountains of Colorado. I wanted to re-stain my weathered wood fence and it did NOT disappoint!! I chose the dark walnut because I wanted dark without being too dark- it's beautiful and you can still see the wood grains. I did power wash the grey and old stain off the wood first but then it made perfect clean canvas to stain a new colour. I did use a power sprayer and that made it go faster but even in the parts I hand painted it was still so easy and literally goof-proof. Highly Reccomend!

Good stain bad packaging
This is a really good stain itโs hard to find oil based stain every thing is water based that does nothing to preserve the wood .There packaging is terrible the can came all dented now after a few weeks itโs leaking had to turn the can upside down.I didnโt think it was going to leak when it came so I didnโt complain.Iโll know better next time because i really like the stain

Great stain!!
This is fantastic stain. Exceeded my expectations for sure. Our deck wood is old, splitting, and a hot mess. I can't afford to replace the wood, so decided to stain it and pray. Just... WOW. I am so happy!!! Covered the dry thirsty wood in 1 generous coat. Very easy to handle, use, and dried in a day (80's). I absolutely love the color, and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stain their deck, even if it's old and raggedy like ours. I'm so happy! I still have 1/4 of a 5 gallon can left. Our deck is 325sq ft. So pleased with the results.

This is black walnut
Wanted to post a pic of the color since when I was shopping I was looking for that. This is black walnut on pressure treated pine. It didnโt come out as dark as I thought it might but Iโm sure multiple factors contribute here. Contrary to what would be advised, we didnโt let the pine weather for several months first and actually probably didnโt let it dry out enough before applying the stain because of time lines. These factors have likely contributed to how much the wood is soaking up and drying times. This is lumber for a pergola we are building and wanted to stain the boards before assembling due to the fact itโs being built over a koi pond and staining after is not optional. The color is still very nice and warm. Easy to use and goes a long way. The five gallon bucket will easily cover all of the lumber you see here with plenty to spare. A drop or two of water got on the wood while I was working and even after one coat it was beading up like a champ. Would totally buy again

Disappointed with it's clear appearance when it was supposed to be dark walnut No 525
Disappointed. Too much sealer mixed in that no color is seen on bare, weather-worn fence. Had to use a redwood stain and will have to use a polyurethene later to seal it up. I assumed with so many good reviews and Amazon promoting it that I couldn't go wrong.

Easy to use. Beautiful colour.
I know I wanted more actual pictures when I was looking at deck stain so I added some. The is a wrap around pressure treated deck. About 3/4 of the wood was never treated previously and the other 1/4 had been stripped of a previous water based stain. Prior to application the parts needing it had been chemically stripped then neutralIzed where appropriate. I then used Scottโs outdoor cleaner with oxi clean ( follow directions on bottle). This is different than ready seal recommendation of bleach as I have too many tender plants around the deck to take that risk. I did not sand the deck. Allowed minimum 72 hour dry time after cleaning. Deck is full sun. Deck is ptp aged 1 year Product was easy to use. Left no lap or drip marks. Compared to water base products ease of use it was far far easier. Stained deck by hand with brush and doing this there was plenty of product (5 gallons) to put two coats on very large wraparound deck, stairs and liver level 16x10 deck. So far highly rated. Iโll update in the spring after it experiences a ns winter ๐ฌ Post Canadian winter update: still happy. All โprotectedโ surfaces under eaves or not full sun still look like new. The full sun full exposure parts are slightly faded but still look quite good. I will probably reapply a single coat to these areas to brighten the color but likely not necessary. Would def buy again. Two years: still happy. Came back as Iโm about to buy more. Just touching up some full sun areas this year. Just wash deck and apply. No stripping. So. Much. Easier. Many areas out of the sun still look brand new.

Nice, but....
I really wanted to write a fab review for this product. There were a couple of things that added nuisance value unfortunately. We ordered 6 drums. (1) the drums arrived at different times. Some were damaged, one so badly damaged that it sprang a leak with the delivery company and they returned it. A replacement was automatically ordered by Amazon, but after three weeks we still hadn't received it. (2) the stain is transparent. If you have any mould, blemish or discolouration it will show through the stain. In our case this meant that we had to go with sandblasting in order to stay with the stain (cabin staining job). (3) The stain is watery, not viscous like paint. Because it is runny it runs right down the brush or roller that you may have over your nitrile gloves and down your arm when you're doing any kind of overhead work. I imagine that if one has a paint sprayer this issue wouldn't crop up. However the stuff is messy and can't be doing your bare skin any good at all. Also, because viscosity is something one doesn't normally note till the drum is open this is something that you may want to be aware of.
