Is the item easy to use

My husband did it but it looked easy enough, he used a stanly knife and a flat plastic applicator to get rid of the air bubbles- hope that helps 😀

Does it heat up and create plastic smell in direct hot sunlight?

Not only does it smell, it smells bad enough that you can taste it. It's currently making my water taste like new arm bands.

The film doesn't appear to stick right away, does it stabilise over time?

If its not sticking remove it and start again clean the window first with hot soapy water and dry with paper towel. Then with a mild solution of cold water and Washing up liquid soak the window and re-apply the film starting at a top corner making sure you are removing all air bubbles as you go.

Whats the texture on the inside? Matt or glossy white ??

It’s Matt white on the inside
