Depending on what cartridge is fitted to this the output will be about 2 to 4 milli- volts. Most ceramic and ie crystal cartridges deliver about 250 to 500 milli volts they are HIGH impedance cartridges and DON'T require a preamp. The cartridge fitted to your turntable as supplied with it, WILL need a PHONO pre amp. The RCA connector cable plugs into the back of the Fluance turntable and then into 1) The PHONO magnetic INPUT on your amplifier OR if you have NO PHONO input on the amp you must buy a 2) PHONO magnetic cartridge PRE AMP (costs about $15 - I recommend an RIAA preamp (most bought are to that spec) Connect the leads from your turntable to the PRE AMP module and then to your AUXILLIARY (CD, TUNER, AUX) input. Do remember to power the pre amp via the adaptor provided or power supply as recommended.

Will this work with my powered edifier  speakers if I add a preamp?

I recommend you buy an RIAA rated preamp. I also suggest your powered speakers have the correct RCA inputs AND or ideally if your RIAA PHONO preamp has OPTICAL outputs you use speakers that also have OPTICAL INPUTS rather than RCA. Remote control for your powered speakers is a bonus.. You can also use the correct RIAA PHONO preamp to connect the signal to a computer IF you wish to transfer your records to digitally recording software. Files can then be saved to ie USB or to CD et You can download FREE recording software online. DO your research!! Your Fluance is a really good choice. Mine has TWO separate click on grips that allow me to swap cartridges. I tend to use the ORTOFON for newer purchases et whilst the other for semi worn records. Audio Technica AT-VM95E or similar is a cheap balanced 20 to 22Khz cartridge and stylus (bout £50 / >$60 The slot in aluminium gripper (make sure you have the correct one) allows you to mount the cartridge easily. Use scales and the tracking guide to ensure balance and tracking is correct. (read up on HOW to balance your tracking arm - there are plenty of vids online. )
