Easy to use no tool curtain rod!
I really liked the rod because it keeps me from using screws. I do not like screws and in a rental, that is not good. I saw this rod on amazon and decided to give it a try. The rod is overall, easy to use. You simply take it out of the package and pull the extending side to fit securely to your window. The only frustrating part for me was figuring out how to tighten the rod to keep it from moving. I did follow instructions but the rod kept moving. Therefore, I decided to put a small mark on the rood so that I could tighten it where it needs to go even if it moves. This helped a lot. To tighten you need to twist in the middle to get it to work. I have vertical curtains and they had a curtain box onlver. I was able to install this rod under the box and added the curtain. I ended up covering the box with a black cloth so it would not show. The first picture shows the rod with the curtain on..the finished look. The other picture shows how the rod latches on to the wall and you can partly see the curtain box covered by the black cloth. I installed the rod under it. Hope this helps!

Works good with lightweight curtains.
This is a good product if you can’t drill into the walls to put up a curtain. And good for a short time. But it can only support a few pounds of weight. Do not put heavy curtains on it. After a while it shifts slightly and the tension pulls at the silicone paint where it’s installed. It’s the same issue for all tension rods once you remove them you need to touch up paint. But it works in a pinch and looks neat. I would not recommend if you can install actual curtain rods.

Don't waste your time or money.
I really wanted to love these, but they are the worst. My apartment was just rebuilt after being destroyed in a fire, and I was reluctant to put unnecessary holes in my nice, new, walls. I thought tension rods would be the way to go, but I was VERY wrong. I bought two of these for my bedroom, thinking how great it was to find tension rods that are also room darkening. Both rods have fallen multiple times, and both my husband and I have each put them up, so I find it doubtful that both of us are unable to properly use these simple type of rods. Not only do they fall, but without fail they fall in the middle of the night and scare the crap out of me, and have caused my neighbor below me to complain to my building's management. They are also very hard to readjust once they are locked into place. I had contacted the manufacturer who directed me to the instructional videos on its website, but the one video that is available is for another type of rod that is screwed into the wall. And although I purchased these in order to avoid damage to my walls, these still damaged my window box by causing indents into the wood. I wouldn't have minded one set of indents, which would be covered by the rod, but with all the falling out and putting back in, there are now multiple indents and scratches on the wood. The fact that the wood got indented proved to me that the rods had been tight enough inside the window, but somehow they keep falling out. And I only have one curtain on each rod, not a set of two on either side of the window. It got to the point that I no longer tie the curtains back during the day because I don't want to touch the curtain at all to make it fall. Right now one rod is up, but we have left the one that fell recently and just tucked the curtain into the top window. I plan on purchasing new, regular screw-mount rods. I may try the other rod that Kenney Manufacturing makes, as it has the look I like, but I am still a bit skeptical.

difficult but works
took me about 20 mins by myself to put it up, wasn't clear on instructions on how to tighten it but eventually figured it out. its been up for about a week now and hasn't fallen, also haven't touched it since I put it up in fear of it falling and having to do the process all over again. I love that there was no screws to be drilled since im in an apartment.

depends on one's needs. read detailed review below
As w/anything it really depends on what someone is looking for. For me, this gets the job done for my purpose but overall i would rate the product as just "ok" in general. details: 1. as many have already said including YouTube video that simply advertises the product vs giving an installation demo, the instructions it comes with are pretty poor. it shows the diagram but the written words would be similar to receiving something to assemble that simply states "put it together". not really helpful. that would be like receiving a piece of furniture to assemble that simply said "attach pieces and put it together". That is not really telling anyone the technique or giving any helpful info. **how to actually do it**: this is like a tension shower curtain rod except its meant to fit inside the window frame. the picture does show how the brackets should sit and that part is correct. one side: the right side comes OFF and allows you to put on the curtains on the rod. so first twist the rod itself back and forth to loosen it up so that is it able to be adjusted. you can get a basic idea by holding up to the frame as to how long it needs to be. once it can easily be adjusted (mine really stuck and it was not easy getting it to adjust), then go ahead and put the curtains on the rod and put the end back on. put the rod/curtains all the way up to the highest point inside the frame. this way it is level automatically. then twist (each hand in opposite direction) to get the tension correct so that is is positioned on each end and stays put. again think of a tension shower curtain that adjusts and goes between two walls but does not need drilling. this is the same concept. not sure what the picture is showing w/the holding it at angle but you just put the curtains on and then hang it up, adjust. it took a bit to get it adjusted where the tension was holding but it DID work. 2. the idea of it being able to be used w/the light blocking curtains to wrap around the ends is helpful and does work and does not leave any gaps. the curtains are able to easily wrap around and stay against the wall. 3. we already have horizontal blinds on the window and this actually was able to still be used in the frame. again, i positioned as high as possible in the frame. the very top blind bends slightly but this still is functional and not damaging from what i can tell. if so it would be just one top blind which would always be covered w/ curtains anyway 4. was looking for a quick, simple solution for blocking light b/c as said we already have blinds for privacy, etc. did not wish to drill and wished to have a temporary solution that could be changed out if need be. not sure what we are doing as far as decoration to that window yet so did not want anything major or fancy. wanted something simple w/the intention of upgrading later but in the mean time needed the light blocked. for that this DOES the job. it is pretty flimsy, though and very thin so am glad it held the curtains. we leave curtains closed most of the time which is good b/c i would not want to keep opening or closing them. It does not seem to be made for a lot of action but more of a stay put "fix" for an easy curtain solution. 5. i see this being a solution for someone looking for something exactly as i was. super simple, no frills functional purpose of hanging curtains. it says you can add double rod but i would NOT use this for any type of nice decoration or a more complex design. i would only use for this quick fix as mentioned. anything else needed, i would go w/a standard hardware, nice substantial rod that is more durable and also looks nice. for the price and use of not needing hardware, this was good for me. as long as someone is not expecting it to be anywhere near like the other traditional types of rods, knows its is the same concept as a tension shower curtain rod except even flimsier and is just looking for the function of hanging very simple curtains, this will in fact work. the max is 48 and that is for a smaller type bedroom window so this would prob not even be an option for someone's living room or larger windows.

Thumbs up
It wasn't nearly as easy to install as I thought and for a moment I thought I might have to return it. The issue was tightening the rod so it would stay put. Once I enlisted my husband's help we got it up. Perfect! No mess, no tools, no holea in the wall!

Works great once you figure it out.
Bought these at both Walmart and on Amazon. Initially I could not figure out how to get them to lock but eventually we figured it out. Once we did, it worked fantastic. We make them just a bit bigger than the space we wish to hang them in. Then gice them a bit of a bend to fit them snuggly in place. There are little tabs on them and those should be on the bottom to add extra support. We have a doorway that leads into our master bath and wanted to cover it to add privacy/room darkening (so people can use the lights if someone is asleep). We have 2 eclipse thermaback curtains on a single rod that is adjusted out to 42". Its very sturdy and our baby can even pull on it with no issues. Just like regular tension rods, the tighter the fit, the more strength it will have.

Hard to put up, and not sturdy.
I Returned them. On a standard window they did not stay up nor was it easy to install. I liked the idea of not putting holes in the wall, so I ended up getting a spring loaded option. I followed the directions and it was extremely hard to put up on a smaller standard window that my arms could reach. I purchased two and they were both the same, so I don't think they are defective.
