The santokus curved blade helps facilitate the rocking motion used for chopping and the width is perfect for crushing garlic or scooping sliced food off a cutting board. Buying this could never be wrong. It is made of good steel and will maintain a sharp edge for a lot of cutting before you have to sharpen again.
