Is this truck mechanized, ie, runs on batteries?

No it does not use batteries. However, Bruder makes a quality truck. My boys enjoyed these!

What kind of trash do your children use with this toy? My son loves the actual dumping of trash and I’m worried that the screws will get stuck.

Our grandson loved his Garbage trucks; the Bruner 02811 was his first garbage truck - he got it when he was two. He is now 14 and is big into football and video games like Fortnight, but he still has some of his most cherished toys - see video. He still periodically takes out a couple of garbage trucks, garbage cans, and garbage to relive his younger days. For garbage, he uses crumpled paper, cardboard, pieces of foam, and anything soft and small. I originally cut up scrapes of the foam floor squares for him to use as garbage along with the paper and cardboard.
