We used this to cover the exposed edges for some new melamine shelves that we bought for our pantry. We followed the directions provided on the package, and had no problems. The instructions indicated you should use the iron at 150 degrees, not sure what setting that would be on my 20-year-old iron, so we figured the silk setting (#3) was a good place to start. It worked just fine, melted the glue and attached to the shelf as I was watching it. We ironed directly on the edging, and the iron did not mar the surface. We had 3/4 inch shelf and purchased the 3/4 inch edging and lined it up with the top edge of the shelf, it was the perfect size, no cutting required at all. We had to sand the edge slightly to smooth it out, but that was all. The material is thick and flexible, and looks great. The white matches my shelves perfectly (or because it is vertical and the top is horizontal, I can’t tell the difference, who cares!). I would recommend you go ahead and buy it!

Use my ancient iron, which is a 1970's Black and Decker cheap model, this went on super easy, with minor shaving of edges that was also easy to do and ended up looking very professional with almost no learning curve. Trimming the edges is one of the steps of installation, so it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong! I really worried that this would be difficult to put on, but it was easy. One thing is to cut the pieces very slightly long, because it's easy to shorten the pieces, or trim the abutting new piece to fit the first one laid down, but impossible to make any pieces longer. Also, once down, these cannot be repositioned. You can take it off and put in a new piece, but these do not adhere more than once. There is a very, very slight ability to curvefrom side to side; up as downthis has a lot of bend (obviously, since it comes in a roll). All in all, a great product. But watch an installation video before you start.

I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the melamine surface on this edge banding. It is as good as, if not better, than what you can get in most big box stores. The color and gloss are true and consistent, and the texture is a very fine pebble. Plus the edges are very straight, as some other brands can be jagged. It's comparable to others in that it requires iron heating at a cotton setting, and just a few smooth presses. What I do not find as useful is the amount of adhesive on the band. There is far more of it than any other brand I use, and it is spread in quite a coarse layer (see left side of picture, placed next to a comparable product on the right). While the high amount of adhesive does provide a superior level of adhesion, the band is placed higher off the surface and needs far more pressure to lay flat. As a result, a lot of the adhesive gets squeezed out, and needs clean-up. Fortunately, any slight layment issues can be corrected by reheating the tape before the adhesive completely sets, but with the amount of adhesive don't expect to be able to make large corrections. I would buy again, even knowing it adds 10% to the time and effort to use.
