It Really Does Work!!!
I was not even going to buy this one based on all the negative reviews. Fire Ants were invading our kitchen and I have been spraying Ortho and plugging any tiny hole I could find for days now. Oh and they don't bite they Sting my kids has huge swelled up red marks from these mean ants. I went looking for something that would work reading all the reviews. I actually ordered 3 different ant bait stations these from Raid, the Terro and the Amdro. I read and none really said they worked for Fire Ants some said they did not but I felt I had to just try everything I could. So these Raid bait stations arrived first and the other 2 were a going to take a few more days to arrive. So of course I put the Raid bait stations out as soon as they came. I put them in the corners of the cabinets and since these ants had a train line up and down my counters I put them right on the counter in the path they were taking. At first the ants went around the bait stations totally ignoring them. I was worried thinking the reviews were right what a waste. But after a few hours there were a few ants on the bait stations, hope. Then after several hours more and more ants on the bait stations. By the next day the ants were all over the bait stations. The Raid bait was working as the ants were going in and out. My son said something very funny, he is looking at the bait stations and he looks at me and says "to the ants that is like Mc D's it taste good but slowly kills you". So here we are just over 48 hours after the bait stations were first put down and no more ants on any counters. Inside the cabinets there are still a few ants but they are clearly wondering drunk and dying. So seems the Raid killed the ants before the other bait stations even arrived. I am glad I decided to take a chance on these Raid bait stations after reading all the bad reviews because they solved my problem in under 3 days. So don't expect to put them down and like magic ants just run right in. It will take some time for a few ants to make it into the bait stations. Then you have to wait for those ants to signal other ants that hey this taste good come get some. Give it some time this takes a few days to see results, you have to let them take the poison back to the nest and then for it to get distributed to all.

Stick with what works
I purchase this annually cause thats when i get the ant problem every spring. This year i went with the clear gel small boxes it looked good and the reviews were better, My fault i should have stuck what did the job every year, which is this product, the gel didnt work at all and it was more money, i had to go back and order this 1 to get the job done, no more ants. Font let the 4.0 rating discourage your purchase these little suckers.work great and its cheap.

These work on a wide variety of ants, but don't seem to kill the nest
I've used these Raid ant baits several times. My house is right next to a large game preserve with a mix of forest, fields, and marsh. So we get a lot of ants of all varieties. Tiny little pavement ants, carpenter ants wandering in and looking for new nesting sites, little red (not Fire) ants that love to literally eat through plastic bags and contaminate our food. I've seen at least five varieties that show up in various numbers each year. And the Raid baits seem to help reduce the numbers of all of them. But these baits only seem to kill the adult ants, not the nests. So if you have a major infestation or an ant mound right next to your foundataion, you'll need something else to actually get rid of them altogether. My recommendation would be to buy the Raid baits as a first line, then check for active nests nearby. If you find one spewing large numbers of ants within 50 feet of your home, grab a couple of them and do a species check on an identification website. That'll give you a better idea of which bait, granule, or spray you need to kill off the queen and larvae. This often takes weeks, but once they're gone they'll stay gone at least until the next queen breeding cycle, which is a once a year thing for most ant species.

A failed attempt at deception.
When I saw the diligent a tactical line of ants slipping through the crack of the windowsill of my second story bedroom I knew war had come to my doorstep. Though it pains me to lift a sword to these creatures their pillaging of my territory is unacceptable. I first began with the torch, lighting them aflame as if a dragon came through and scorched their lines. I did this as a warning to future explorers that they may take heed of the warning and seek lands other than mine. I underestimated their resolve and thought at first their queen a witless oaf. I was wrong. She is resilient and she sent twice as many soldiers to the front line as if fodder to the fire and brimstone industrial empire she wishes to establish. This why my review is here. I aimed to use a device to assassinate her by the very hands she so carelessly threw towards my windowsill. To put it simply this strategy has failed and with it the moral high ground of my own reign. For instead of meeting her warriors upon the battlefield I decayed into deception and dishonorable tactics. This device failed even after a couple weeks the ants are no more interested in it as a cat is interested in post modernism literary theory. Perhaps my greatest failure is that of character. To which I blame Raid and their false guild of ant assassins. I shall be trying other brands perhaps of a more volatile nature.

Quality product
Notes for clarity: I have no dogs, & live in a condominium backed up to a lake with a swamp preserve behind it, not on first floor in Great Lakes region. Tldr: Product works as advertised, ants went away **completely** within a week or so. Dont expect instant results Had an issue with ants, couldn’t find source of problem or entry points. Ill chop it up to poor housing/building quality that is extremely common in every home made in America that is not custom designed by the person who will actually live there. So the ants could come in from a variety of places. Was seeing a lone ant probably every day in one place or another. No trail, couldn't identify source of problem, or entry. Turn to broad based solution, this. Put them by entry door, window, and kitchen trash. Never saw them again after a week. It takes a couple of days to work bc they have to bring it back to the nest, for it to then kill the colony. They’ll have stragglers for a minute, but in a few days you won’t see them. Been a few months I think since use, only used half of package I think and haven’t seen a single one since. Very effective, highly recommend. Noticed no smell, bodies, or anything.

Didn't work for Sugar Ants
Not as effective as expected. The ants tend to go over and around it. No changes in the volume of sugar ants. In fact, they appear to have multiplied. 3 stars because this product worked for the ants in the break room at my job, which is why I purchased it. They were, however, a different species.

Immediately effective
So glad I got these, it was immediately effective. I moved our dog’s food bowl by our back door and started to see a ton of ants in and around the bowl. I’d wipe the area down but they kept coming back. I got the ant bait, put two behind a piece of furniture within a foot of the bowl and two directly outside the door where I saw them coming in. Haven’t had ants since!

Effective
Easy to use and perfect for removing the ant menace. Tried it both indoors and in the garden, and worked at both places perfectly. The garden ant hills after the rain, remains flat, indicating no activity, and indoor the ants had disappeared totally. Used it for the red ants.
