A game changer for VO microphones
After putting the raspberry through a bunch of tests I declare this mic....A WINNER!! I will be using it mostly for doing voice over work while away on vacation but honestly this mic would be a great choice for doing VO from a home studio for professional voice over use. Really Blue hit all the marks on this one. Let's first talk about sound. I generally record most of my voice over work...which includes national campaigns for commercials, promos, and narrations on a Sennheiser 416. It's a great mic for VO and I will continue to use it as many of my clients ask for it. While the raspberry doesn't have the same sound as the 416 it has what I would describe as it's own special sound. One that is full, crisp, clean and upfront. I would whole heartily record high profile sessions on this mic. And it will serve me well for auditions on the road which will be it's main use. But man the sound quality on this thing blows me away. The sound quality of the raspberry rivals many mid range xlr mics in my opinion. In fact it sounds better then a lot of them! On to some of the features. Obviously portability is key here. The mic will easily travel with you do to it's convenient size. The attached mic stand is extremely versatile. Even more clever is the tripod hook up which will allow you to hook this up to a standard camera tripod. Buy yourself a tiny one and you can take it with you on the road if you prefer to stand...which I do. Or if you wanna hook the mic up to a regular mic stand it also comes with a hook up for that...which works flawlessly. The mic gain adjuster is responsive. The mute button is extremely cool to. One feature that separates the raspberry from both the apogee mic and the irig mic studio is that it has true zero latency headphone monitoring. Great sounding at that. While I hate to admit this...I really can't do my work without monitoring myself in my headphones. Too many years of hearing my own voice, ahhah. From a physical stand point of course this mic like all blue mics...is beautiful. Such a cool looking mic. They did a good job with the grill/capsule area as well. I can put my mouth about a fist length away talking off axes from the mic and I have no need for a pop filter if I use good mic technique. As far the devices I tested this on, I used windows 10 and....I used my samsung galaxy S7. It worked flawlessly on both. So although this mic does not advertise as being android friendly it worked great for me with a simple otg cable connector. Though I've heard it won't work on all androids. Perhaps my one complaint is that if you really turn up the gain you're gonna start to hear some mic noise. But at reasonable gain levels it's very quiet. Also as far as the claim that this mic helps to cut down on outside noise...I'm not so sure it does that in a major way. Though I did feel like even when recording in poor conditions it wasn't terrible. But certainly you're better off finding a quite/dead space. But in the end I think this mic is killer bang for the buck. And I would expect to see it come down in price over the years. It really puts high quality portable sound within the reach of many. At $199 bucks the average VO talent can buy this mic, a decent pair of headphones, and an inexpensive audio software...and boom they're in business. And for those VO talent who travel with all their gear when on vacation...try the raspberry. I'd rather not have to lug all my stuff with me wherever I go. The raspberry sores with flying colors if you're looking for a great sounding portable mic to use on your laptop, iphone, and even android with certain phones. And it's very competitive even to use as your main mic in your home studio. Simply put...this mic rocks!

Blue Raspberry vs Blue Yeti
I got this in lieu of the Yeti for its size alone as I want to take it with me often. I was replacing a yeti my kids destroyed, so I have experience with both. It is amazing for portability, and the quality is great, but I do wish I could manually change the gain like you can do with the yeti. The single dial for adjusting and helping focus on your voice works ok but not like when I could adjust manually with the yeti. It does ok with filtering out background noise, but not as much as I had hoped. Great product otherwise, would repurchase for sure. SO much smaller than the yeti which is a major bonus.

Good microphone, very sensitive though!
I bought this microphone to do voiceover work primarily in Windows, but I also wanted it to be compatible with iPad and iPhone, which it is. I have no real complaints about it; anything I would complain about is probably due to my own lack of expertise in this area. It has great sound, but it tends to be overly sensitive. It will pick up a lot of noise if you do not shield it correctly. I found that I was constantly having to turn the gain down. As far as the iPad and iPhone go, it works very well with them, but you really need a good app also. One thing I don’t know how to fix is that in any of the video recording apps I use, the voice and the video never sync up. This likely has nothing to do with the microphone itself though. Otherwise I have no complaints about it, and again, most of them are probably due to my own experience or lack of knowledge.

DIGITAL DISTORTION AND CLIPOING EVEN AT LOW GAIN SETTINGS AND FLAT INPUT EQ
Blue Raspberry Mic UNUSABLE: MIC SENSITIVITY EVEN AT LOWEST LEVELS CLIPPING AND CAUSING DIGITAL DISTORTION Raspberry Mic purchased via your Amazon Store. Received yesterday and tested it on the following... also purchased extended warranty plan. • iPhone 8 Plus • 2 different iPhone 6s • New IPad Pro 9.5 inch • Gen 1 iPad Pro 12 inch • 2015 MacBook Pro 15 inch Running High Sierra All IOS DEVICES running 11.1 Input on IOS: lightning cable Input on Mac: micro usb to standard usb male Headphones: AKG 240s IOS Software: * GarageBand * AudioShare * Clear Record * Voice Memos * Onboard video camera Mac Software: * GarageBand * Logic Pro X TESTING: All tests were repeated using both 16 and 24 bit recording settings. I set mic gain and headphone jack to zero on each test and dialed in levels from there to ensure no clipping on mic or software. All tests were ran using same varied proximity and off axis microphone recording methods. PROXIMITY: off axis 16 inches to 8 inches 4 inches to 12 inches >Ran voiceover tests on all devices using standard settings. >Ran vox Singing test on all devices using standard GarageBand presets. Every single recording regardless of gain setting or proximity had digital clipping even at low vocal power and was unusable. Even at levels so low that it would barely register on the wave form digital clipping and distorting occurred. This mic is unusable and needs to be replaced. Tested against a Samson Meteor Mobile Mic which had no problems with above tests. The Blue Raspberry is clearly rated to be a higher quality near pro level mobile microphone than the Samson. My particular product must be a lemon as it does not live up to the hype. Good: >Great design >small size and easy to go mobile. Bad: Over sensitivity on my particular mic tested causing digital clipping at even low levels rendering the mic unusable. I will adjust my rating when I receive a replacement to test. My guess is that I received a malfunctioning product. So I will let people know when the problem is addressed. I am a pro user of Blue products and this is first one I have purchased which is unusable out of the box. I am leaving for travel next Monday and had planned on using this new mic for some voiceover and mobile media production work. Please rectify this problem. Thank you. Sincerely, iMax

I've been trialling this microphone in two live webinars as an alternative to another well-regarded microphone. My students rated this microphone as being better. In particular, they commented there was less background noise and less "table noise" (noise due to me moving the mouse around on the table) picked up

Absolutely love this mic. So small and discreet, doesn't impede or show up much on the video part of my streams, and audio quality is very good. For an "on the go" style mic, this was well worth it to stream and record from work, or home. Very happy, and would definitely recommend.

It’s a good product with so much ease of use.
