Would this wrench open a fire hydrant

I don't know. I gave it as a gift, but I doubt it since it isn't big enough.....AT least not for our hydrants.

Where can I get replacements screws for the socket head? One came out and I need to replace it.

Hello... I would take the wrench to your local hardware store. Have them look at it, and suggest an appropriate replacement. Very often they will have a 'screw set' of various sizes that you can buy. Oh, and you might want to try a little 'lock-tight' when you put it back! Hope this helps! Dennis

It depends. If there is ample clearance around the nut or bolt (and above) and if you are content without the quicker action of a ratchet. Yes. However, I have found many places where this tool is too bulky to use and have had to use a socket and ratchet or a box end wrench.

Didn't think I would use this as much as I do but I do and it's fantastic. Just throw it in the toolbox and forget about the set with the mismatched heads. This is heavy and high quality and has never let me down. Perfect for adjusting bike seats etc and other things that have standard size nuts. For the price I think it can't be beat. I actually bought it for a gift but I find myself using it a lot.
