Their explanations for why the wrong choices are wrong and their supplemental explanations are first rate. It also comes with a copy of the test supplement (the graphics needed to answer many questions) included in the price. Don't waste money buying a second-hand copy. Comes with five practice tests which wouldn't be accessible if you bought a used copy. Review: For those who want to KNOW - I made it all the way to the airlines using ASA prep. This is the only way to go if you actually want to KNOW the material that your life (and presumably the lives of others) will depend on. This absolutely trumps the rote memory methodology of passing writtens. You could use this prep guide as a rote tool if you choose, but it also allows you to explore problem explanations and guides you to the FAA reference materials for deeper understanding. If you're serious about aviation, you choose ASA.

Best investment
I am so glad I got this test prep. Sportyโs is great, but this book explains everything perfectly and you see all the possible questions for the test. Money well-spent

Passed written with flying colors
Had just about all the questions that were on the PPL test. Easy to use and understand, would recommend to any student pilot.

Covers All Aircraft Categories
This ASA publication includes the private, sport, and recreational "FAA Written Test" questions and explanations for airplane, helicopter, gyroplane, glider, balloon, airship, and a few other miscellaneous flying machines. The other test prep books I know of (Gleim's and Jeppesen's), cover only airplane. I have talked to Gleim reps at Oshkosh AirVenture, suggesting they include the other categories of aircraft, and they don't seem to care. So if you're taking flying lessons in something other than an airplane, this is the only test study book I know of. In this ASA book, the questions are organized by category. I'd prefer they be in order by number, but that's a minor quibble. In years past, (in the 1980s), ASA's answers occasionally didn't agree with the FAA's. This may no longer be the case. I don't instruct pilots anymore, so I don't keep up with the changes and corrections.
