With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Kenneth A. Lane has designed Developing Ocular Motor and Visual Perceptual Skills: An Activity Workbook to help occupational therapists, optometrists, and other professionals develop the ocular motor and visual perceptual skills of learning disabled children. To establish a framework for understanding, each chapter begins with the scientific theories used to develop the activity forms. Insightful suggestions are included on how to solidify the program's success. The easy-to-follow activity forms are then presented, along with numerous illustrations that help develop ocular motor and visual perceptual skills. The forms are divided into as many as five levels of difficulty so both children and teenagers can benefit from each activity. Developing Ocular Motor and Visual Perceptual Skills contains daily lesson plans and practical tips on how to successfully start an activities program. Other helpful features include a glossary of terms and a reference list of individuals and organizations that work with learning disabled children to develop these skills. The first of its kind, Developing Ocular Motor and Visual Perceptual Skills utilizes a learning approach by linking the theories with the remediation activities to help learning disabled children improve their perceptual and fine motor skills. All professionals looking to assess and enhance a variety of fine motor and visual perception deficiencies will welcome this workbook into their practices. Topics include: Complexity of reading Ocular motor Gross motor Visual-motor perception Visual memory Laterality Reversals Review: Worth every cent! - GREAT value for anyone who works with ocularmotor control dysfunction and visual-perceptual difficulties in the upper elementary, middle school, high school, or adult population. A great resource for use in the clinic with minimal preparation (many pages are meant to be copied and used without modification or preparation,) but most ideas are presented with grading and adaptation suggestions available for a wide variety of age populations and abilities. This is a book I wish I'd heard of sooner, it has been invaluable for treating those struggling with attentional difficulties and for those students who require assistance establishing a scanning strategy that promotes a left to right orientation as required for reading the English language. Great resource for parents of children who are receiving vision therapy or occupational therapy for oculomotor control difficulties for home program ideas as well. Activities are written with easy-to-understand instructions and frequently with images to assist with understanding of formatting and orientation of easily reproduced material for use with workbook. Very glad that I found this resource for such a common area of weakness in the school-aged population. Review: Great Reference - I am an occupational therapist. We are seeing more and more students that are dealing with ocular motor difficulties. This book helped give me a deeper understanding of the issues of visual perceptual skills. Having a better understanding, helps to develop appropriate activities to address each individual need.

Eye-hand coordination
This book has been extremely helpful in my practice with students in the school system. It allows me to use activities at the level I need to for students. I use them in combination with some other things to make excellent progress on eye-hand coordination skills.

Excellent Book!
I am a COTA (Occupational Therapy) working in a local school district with mostly k-2nd grade. There is a wealth of information and activities to develop visual motor and ocular motor skills. The descriptions of the different areas are fairly easy to understand although someone without an education in this area may find some of it a bit difficult. Even so, the activities are easy to understand and follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone working in occupational therapy.

Great product
If you really use this every day, there is good improvement. I use it with all my kids for homeschool activities. There are so many good basic skills in it. It is hard for my older son to practice many of these activities by himself, so it takes some time on your part also if you are using it with a child.
