Basic Fun Speak & Spell Electronic Game

Was searching Speak & Spell since long. When I was a child I used play and learn with speak n spell and speak n math's. Not getting speak n math's but at last got the spell one. Can see my kids loving it. A simple gadget for kids to learn in this modern era. Simple and nostalgic

We gave to my 6 years old daughter and she enjoys play/ learn with it. For her sometimes the words are to fast or confusing but in general she loves it.

YESS 😂 The Toy That Raised an Entire Generation I bought the Speak & Spell 80s Retro Edition and immediately felt like I needed permission from my parents to use it. The second it powered on, I was transported back to a time when cartoons were only on Saturday mornings, TVs weighed as much as a small car, and learning to spell felt like a high-stakes game show hosted by a robot with zero mercy. That voice. You know the one. Flat. Metallic. Emotionless. It doesn’t praise you. It doesn’t comfort you. It simply announces whether you are correct or a disappointment. This thing taught spelling the same way the 80s taught everything: loudly and without apologies. The buttons are big, clicky, and gloriously plastic. Every press sounds like confidence. Or defeat. There is no in-between. You can practically hear a cassette rewinding in the background while it judges your vowel choices. And let’s talk about the experience: You sit there, staring at it, fully confident. You spell the word. It pauses. Your soul leaves your body. Kids today will think it’s a fun toy. Adults will realize autocorrect has been saving them for decades. I love this can't believe I found it I had one when I was a kid and this is one toy I constantly thought about

I just had this delivered today- it came with the batteries installed but I couldn't turn it on. I did some googling and came across the tip about the reset button in the back- that did the trick and it seems to be working great. Kids love the "code" function and hangman. They plan on playing a spy game with the codes. Both my 6 year old and my 9 year old can use it for spelling as well- as there are 4 levels of words. They also love that it is the toy from "E.T." Compared to the original- it is definitely lighter, and the letters seem to be bigger on the display. I personally love that unlike most of their electronics- they are not connected to wifi. Update- haven’t used this much over the past while but now not all the keys work. Only keys located in centre or the device are working. Disappointed.

After unpackaging and taking on the protective tab of the battery compartment, it refused to turn on. So I pressed the reset button, which caused the display to come on, but frozen, unresponsive. So I took the batteries out and changed a new set of batteries, but no matter what I did after that the display won’t come on at all. There’s a dull flash of the display when I press reset but that’s it.
