Newspeak, Doublethink, Big Brother, the Thought Police - the language of 1984 has passed into the English language as a symbol of the horrors of totalitarianism. George Orwell's story of Winston Smith's fight against the all-pervading Party has become a classic, not the least because of its intellectual coherence. First published in 1949, it retains as much relevance today as it had then. Review: Classis read - Great book. Came fast Review: Must read - If you haven't read it - you need to.

Required for School, No Opinion on the Book Itself
This book was a required reading for my daughter’s school, so I don’t have a personal opinion on it. However, it arrived in great condition, and we were able to get it for the course. If you need it for academic purposes, it serves its purpose well.

Intriguing
I loved the additional contributions in this edition. I enjoyed the original story and I think having the additional context will help younger readers to enjoy it too.
