Defective and found to unnecessary
My wife's Win laptop was unable to startup. It failed to find the boot sector on the hard drive. I thought I could use this disk to get it to run in troubleshooting mode. The disk they sent was bad. No computer I have could read it. I get an error message that the CD is unreadable. Then I went to Microsoft and downloaded the Win install ISO disk and created a boot drive using a flash drive. I did this on this on my MacBook Pro and formatted it for Windows. I used the flash drive I created to boot the broken laptop and try to troubleshoot the problem. The issue was unsolvable and I had to reformat the hard drive. Using the flash drive I created, I was able to boot into the Windows Setup and copy the user directory to another hard drive before I reformat and install a clean copy of Windows. So this product/CD was completely worthless and just wasted time waiting for this CD to arrive when I could have spend that time downloading the ISO from Microsoft and building my own recovery drive.

Works on a Windows 8.1 Computer upgraded to Windows 10
This DVD actually brought a dead computer back to life. If you have a computer that is a brick and bought right at the time that Windows 10 was being rolled out you will probably need unless you made a recovery DVD versus flash drive this maybe the only thing that will get you back up and running. In any case if you upgraded your recovery material will bring your computer back to in my case 8.1 (At least that what I read on HP's website). Since I didn't want to to this and luckily was fully backed up I wanted to replace the dead HD with an SSD and do a fresh install. Since it was a family computer I am not sure how the Hard Drive started to crash and didn't trust Windows Defender. We wanted the new drive to be "fresh" so wanted to start totally fresh. So my first thought was buy the flash drive since that is my typical recovery media for our computers. Unfortunately it did not work double checking the bios to allow USB boot.. Not sure why and maybe it was due to the 8.1 to 10 OS upgrade. Anyhow as much as I changed and played with the Bios I could always hear the DVD drive wanting to boot. I thought got nothing to really lose and reviews mentioned it worked in this capacity but not sure about the OS upgrades. Bought this stuck in the drive and it started right up. My first attempt to get the HD to become smart did fail (it happens at the very end) because I picked upgrade choice and I had nothing to upgrade. Instead you want to pick new install. I believe the license for windows is buried in the bios and new install finds that license automatically. After that it was pretty straightforwards and relatively quick to install. In summary, this DVD was all i needed to get back up and running. It was so simple to bring a totally dead PC back to life.

Worked good for my daughter.
I bought this for my laptop. Bummer is I couldn't boot it at all because it just wasn't cooperating. I tried using it anyway and the program did start and get far enough to tell me that my hard drive was encrypted and they could not unlock it to restore it. Well, my daughter's laptop had been acting up so I passed it to her and she was able to follow the directions and it's running perfectly now. I thought I wasted me money so I'm really glad it worked for her.

Reinstall or Repair only, but worked great, and shipped fast!
My machine caught a heck of a virus, and I could not get it to boot from the USB version no matter what I tried. This disk is exactly what I needed to completely scrub my machine with partdisk, and reinstall. Granted, it did not work until the third time of turning the computer off and on, but my pc was such a pain at that point I could easily attribute it to that. I will repeat the info that this DOES NOT contain a product key. My computer has the key built in, so I just needed the boot disk. Just be aware of what you need when buying this item.

Useful under certain conditions
I had the orange stripe screen on reboot and had wanted to recover without restarting from scratch. I wasn't able to recover using the recovery cd/tool and there was no indication of how to contact their tech support. I had to recover back to the initial install software (windows 7) on the PC that was about 6 years past. All data lost on that recovery. I came up on windows 7, but could not accomplish anything on the internet (i.e. downloading windows10) because the operating system was so old. This is where the recovery cd/tool was useful. I was now able to use it to reinstall windows 10. Once on windows 10 I could down load patches and get to a current supported system.

I bought this Windows 10 Installation disc in March 2021 Problems Arose
I Installed the 64 bit version of Windows 10 Home Edition on a 6 TB Western Digital (WD) Black Series HDD. The installation went smoothly except certain huge detail in the installation instructions were omitted. NOWHERE on the disk installation process was it emphasized that to prevent file search and editing problems, that user permissons MUST be set at the user root file folder, with that user's Microsoft Account user name and if applicable, family members or other subsidiary users must be likewise on their user root folder. Because of that, files were constantly being mis-identified by Windows Security and were "cleaned out" continuously as "junk files" therefore, vanishing from the system. Also, Program files stored in my documents' pertinent folder were misidentified as executable malicious files and were quarantined as a result, so, a lot of important files of mine were never retained on the system by default, as being MY FILES since I had the Windows 10 program registered with its product key assigned to my original computer and the original hard drive. The real kicker occurred a year later when, while trying to "clean the system of mis-identified "malicious", "unknown" and so-called "junk files" , the system programs known as CC Cleaner and Malwarebytes wiped my previously three-quarters filled hard-drive, of 4TB of photos, videos and documents, into digital yonder-world, and the attempts to retrieve files was only partly successful to about 65% of them found and restored to my computer, but only thanks to those being partly backed up to another area, which was my external hard-drive. Everything that was NOT backed up was totally wiped out! The installation disc, it it contained proper and complete instructions regarding this, would have prevented an on-going nightmare that destroyed a year's worth of downloads and data transferred from CD's, that continues to this very day because of inability to find those missing files!

Amazing Purchase
I purchased a refurbished Dell 300 Series 2 in 1. It did not even have enough memory to install Window updates. The computer also does not have the option of increasing ram. it was worthless to me until i purchased this disk. I ran the disk and deleted everything on the computer originally. Thanks to the disk I got back over half of the storage on the computer. It runs so much fast and i had the space to add programs I wanted. The disk made me love the computer. I can't say enough good things about the disk. I am so happy with the purchase. It was worth every penny.
