Nice experiment!
I don’t have time to shop for science fair stuff so this was a nice kit. It was a little challenging to create an appropriate Hypothesis and procedure to preform. Luckily my husband is handy and we used a volt meter to measure the electricity coming from the potatoes to complete a proper experiment comparing red and white potatoes.

Good fun and learning
My son loved this! He had a blast using it. Instructions were easy to follow and complete. We had it on our counter for weeks and still Worked with new potatoes as needed.

Teacher and Class were WOWed!
My wife and I struggle to find decent gifts for our kids to give other kids. Some people prefer gift cards, which we fee we've given too many of in recent years. Some parents purchase pricier gifts for their kids to give away. Our thought is that if we can't afford to buy the item for our own kids, why buy it and give it away? We love that this item is reasonably priced and educational. That's what makes this item -- the entire line of 4M kits, for that matter -- an excellent product. We donated this item to our daughter's science teacher who was covering different forms of electronics. It WOW'd the class -- and the teacher, too!

Nice kit for kids, clock is a little finicky.
A gift for a 10+ kid who is into science. I am familiar with the potato clock set-up, but it seems that a novice could also follow the instructions with ease. May need an adult to help twist the wires onto the copper and zinc conductors (similar to a thread-the-needle technique). You have two options to set this up: 1) buy two potatoes, or 2) use soda in the included plastic cups. Both methods yield the same result, but the soda method can be tedious. If the conductors touch inside the cup of soda, then the experiment does not work. Lots of DIY videos online using zinc nails and pennies if you need to grasp the basic concept. Only gripe is that the clock could be a little more user-friendly. It doesn't sit upright on its own and doesn't have the "press and hold" feature for set-up that most clocks/watches do. Therefore, if it tips over or you have an accidental bump of the wrong button, it will probably reset. May want to create your own labels for the two clock buttons to aid the youngsters.

Second time I buy it
I bought it last year for my kids and I knew it was a must to add it to my gift basket with the theme of Science Experiments. It is easy to use and a fun way to teach about electrify and Anode Cathode concept.

It's a good start to gauge if your child is interested in science.
Product would make an OK gift for the affordable price. It came as discribed. We used it once and then promptly left it on the dining room table for several days. My wife then binned it all over her hate of potato eyes. The clock was pretty cheap and difficult to set for my child and I. I think you could assemble on your own for cheaper if you were a teacher or daycare. A lot of unnecessary packaging. Served it's purpose but would not buy again. If this review helped, like it.

Potato power!
This is a fascinating gift for kids. The clock actually works when they follow directions. They can try different energy sources as well.
