I bought this mainly as a way to sharpen my lawnmower blade, but after using it, this is probably not the best tool for that. That being said, this tool is very useful for sharpening other things like scissors and bypass pruners, and other things. I’ve used it already to sharpen every pair of scissors in the house, and it does a good job with that. It also sharpen my bypass pruners without a problem. It’s easy to use, and I do like all the different sharpening areas of the tool. Even though it doesn’t do a very good job with my lawnmower blade, because it doesn’t have a “deep” enough reach; I would still purchase this sharpening tool again for the other uses that I found. It’s pretty cool, and it’s lightweight and easy to use.

This is an excellent piece of equipment. I really didn't know what to expect, but I had read reviews & after reading decided to try one since I usually spent money taking my lawnmower blade to a Family Hardware store to be sharpened & have to wait so many days or weeks to get the blade back. I had actually called around before ordering to see if I could get in anywhere to have my blade sharpened & most places were booked up. The place that I usually went to had a 2 to 4 week return time. When I received my Sharpener, I immediately opened it & read the instructions & tried it out on my lawnmower blade. It sharpened it pretty good & sliced right through my front & back yards with no problem. I would recommend for anyone who has had to deal with taking their lawnmower blade to a Hardware Store & had to wait weeks to get it back only to be charged a high price. This Sharpner is easy to use & sharpens great (If U follow the instructions). It can be used on numerous types of blades & is inexpensive. It pays for itself in 1 use. I would definitely purchase again...

Sharpening tools has never been a well honed skill for me. This product has made a huge difference in the results I get with scissors, clippers, and knives. My old tools no longer need replacing. I also like its size and how it sits on a tabletop for a stability. I’m very happy with this sharpener!

I purchased this handy little knife sharpener because I’m tired of using all the different sharpening stones that I own; just too much trouble getting them all and cleaning them. My intentions at time of purchase is to use this to sharpen my lawnmower blade. The businesses near where I live charge what this things costs and more for a one-time sharpening. Also, many of those sharpening services use grinders which I’ve learned can damage your lawnmower blade. Since this little sharpener works on so many types of devices from knives, to shears, to lawnmower blades and more, I decided to try it on my Kershaw pocket knife that was becoming dull. After following the directions exactly as described and a few pulls of the blade I checked out the sharpness. Wow! This pocket knife is now sharper than when it was brand new. In fact, it is much sharper than brand new. I of course couldn’t wait to try it on my lawnmower as it’s been having trouble properly cutting the blades of grass. I removed the lawnmower blade and followed directions using the Sharpal on the blade. After sharpening I powered up the lawnmower and cut my heavily overgrown front lawn. Again, Wow! This thing really put a great edge on my blade and the grass was cut just like when my machine was new, actually it probably cut it even more precisely. I can’t think of a more handy and versatile sharpener than the Sharpal. It’s small and easy to store, sharpens pretty much everything, and is a really good price. Excellent tool for everyone to have on hand. Just be careful after you sharpen things as you may be surprised just how sharp you get them. Definitely a strong recommend from me.

I used this on my hatchet, pruning shears, weed extractor and more. It does seem to clean the surface and make a nice, metallic edge, but I just did not notice an improvement. The tool does tell you which surface to use for the specific tool, which is nice. Aside from polishing the surface, I did not notice any improvement in the cutting ability of the tools I tried to sharpen. I did not try it on my mower blade based on my usage on other tools. I bought a mower blade sharpener that attaches to my drill because this thing does not seem to really sharpen, just polishes the surface. Your results may be different. [Edit] And yes, I did go over the surfaces many, many, many times. It just seemed to get to a point and then did nothing to further sharpen the tool. I really wish this worked as advertised. But the reality is very disappointing.

This lightweight sharpener has several uses, but my main use is for a mower blade. Pull the blade through the sharpener and you can feel it "bite" the metal. The result is a reasonably sharp blade. It doesn't leave a professional edge, but it is better than paying to get the blade sharpened a couple of times a year. Nice, lightweight, but effective product.

This device allowed me to FINALLY get a proper edge on my lawn mower blades. It also did a fine job on my pocket knives. If you insist upon an edge that will split a human hair, you'll have to look elsewhere, but if you're a normal person, this tool works very well, and quickly.
