I let my beard grow out despite some noticeable bald patches left from cystic acne, a daily reminder of the horrors of this disease from my teen years. I've tried same beard oils to help cover those places with thicker hair, but they were like that expensive "greasy kids' stuff," they just seemed to leave grease all over. I wasn't expecting much from this Gillette beard thickener. I mixed a few drops of the thickener with warm water and rubbed it in well. I wasn't impressed with it at that point (except the fragrance - it's light and wonderful!). So I went to bed. When I woke up I stroked my beard and felt the difference immediately. I don't know what ingredient did the trick - maybe the caffeine - but it seems like the individual hairs are noticeably thicker, then in the mirror, the whiskers definitely fill in the blanks. So I continue to use it at night to ready that bear for a full day. The effect is cumulative - just a little every night does the trick - just a little! - and of course, the effect lasts, even when you wash it off. Yet the beard looks better, healthier, and I feel better about my looks, which gives me confidence to fight the day's devils. I've been using it about a week now and very satisfied, and thus a 5 star rating.

I really like the smell of this product! (end of the positive portion of the review...) If you're like me and can't grow a decent beard, that's okay! We are all different. Our genetics are different. Some men will NEVER be able to grow a mega-"manly" beard that looks like a small animal is sitting on your face. Just come to terms with that and enjoy your life. And be nice to each other. A beard does not make you a better/manly/different man. A beard is hair, like the hair in your nether regions or on your head. That's it. This "beard thickener" is just another version of snake oil like the countless others that came before it to entice people into thinking there is some magic cure for what ails you (in this case a slight, patchy, slow-growing beard). That's it. There is a heavy alcohol presence to this elixir so be careful around open flames (e.g., candles). The writing on the bottle looks Russian but you can decipher it with Google translate. Typical info. on the bottle. I can grow a decent Vandyke beard on my chin and upper lip but the cheek beard is sorely lacking. I've been growing one for a year now and I've plateaued at something less than mediocre, IMO. It just isn't going to happen. And this product has not and will not make it look any better. I knew that before I bought it but I wanted something that smelled good on my face instead of perfumed aftershave lotion. If you think this product makes your beard grow longer, faster, or thicker, then I'd say you were experiencing the Hawthorne Effect (look it up!), or just the simple passage of time has produced the perceived difference. Either way, it's your money and it's not too expensive, so knock yourself out. Like I said, it does smell pretty decent.

Not sure how it works, but it does. The bottle says it takes some time of regular use, but I could tell a difference in a few days. It might not fix a patchy beard, but it made a HUGE difference in my beard. It's fuller and "bigger" than it's ever been. Not greasy, not oily, no beard itch, not stiff or sticky. The scent is light and manly. I've used 2 bottles of this, and have no intention of quitting. Gilette got this one right!

Smells nice doesn’t leave a film on your hand like other beard oils and seems to have helped thicken my beard quicker than it would normally take without it.

I use it on my beard and I notice very quickly it changes the beard. You’ll notice a difference quickly. I use this then beard scruff and my beard feels great usually the whole day. It’s worth it trust me. It took me forever to try it out. I could have a beard so long but I kept cutting it, beard scruff by the same company is something I would say to grab with this trust me. My husband thinks this was the best purchase I made off Amazon! He touches his beard all the time and I compliment him on his beard. It’s so thick now and not patchy. It’s smooth to touch and he looks even more sexy now then he did when we first met.

I purchased this product the other day. Have been using beard products for years, mostly beard oils. Thought I'd give the thickener a try. Note: This is not beard oil, as assumed by some previous reviews. This product is supposed to thicken your facial hair. There is no oily residue, and it dries quickly. Even after two uses my beard "seems" to feel thicker. Who knows what the results might be after 14 days (as indicated on the package). However, I may not continue using this product because it has a very strong scent of hairspray and cologne combined. I don't wear either and cannot stand the scent. When I select other beard products I make sure I get something that has a pleasant smell. More subtle earthy aromas, less offensive. Why do they have to make it smell so perfumey when you wear the product right around your nose and mouth? It lingers for hours and makes eating unpleasant. I wish they'd introduce more scents or tone it down a bit, and give buyers options. I might look for a different thickener, or dismiss the idea of using this type of product altogether.

Smells great, a bit of a alcool fume in the first 30 seconds but it's worth it, girlfriend loves it when I use it.

I got this for my partner to help make his beard fuller. He constantly touches his beard and I’m not sure if this is what has caused him to lose a lot of volume.
