The description of this pan says it has a loose base. Does that mean the base will slide up from the bottom to remove the cake from the pan?

Yes the button slides up and comes out. Makes washing the pan very easy. I love mine.

How to clean inside the rolled edges when food is stuck in crack?

I use a couple techniques - first I get the stuck food wet to soften it. Then I find that a circular bristlebrush, rotated along the rolled edge so some of the bristles get in there and are rotated out is a good way to get it clean. If there are a couple stubborn spots where that doesn’t work, I use a toothpick to loosen those spots.
