Fantastic breeder box that needed some modifications on my end.
So I've bred peacock gudgeons and hatched most of the eggs within this container. It was attached to its own little 5 gallon tank with a HOB with carbon and extra sponge for proper filtration, keeping nitrate and nitrite at 0 despite the several-times-a-day feedings. The box definitely has potential to turn your fry container into a fry washing machine, little guys get tumbled around from the flow. The little adjuster on the airline itself did nothing for me, so I had mine hooked up to the system of my rack that let me change airflow directly from the pump. Had to lower that a decent chunk, otherwise the water flow was simply too strong. Even with that, I put some aquarium sponge on a little skewer and placed it right under the water output to catch most of the impact. I also added a piece of sponge on the outflow, because the little grate it comes with is just too big. My little fry kept escaping. I eventually learned that my fry are even small enough to go into and through the damn sponge I put in there, so I had to use something finer (which clogged easier). I also added some floaters and java moss to help with both filtration and hiding space for my little buggers. Unless you have fry that's too big to go through the little grate you definitely will need modifications. But besides all that, it's a fantastic option for hatching eggs and raising fry. My little guys are by now big enough to swim in the 5g freely while growing a little more without risk of ending up in the HOB. Given how well this entire setup worked for me I'll be getting more in the future. I've yet to try it for egg scatterers along with the one item from I believe penplax for automatic egg-harvesting, but I'll get there. And for that I'll need another one! I definitely can recommend it. It kept all my fry in a small space meaning I could give them more accurate feedings, and hook it up to its own tank to have a big water volume for great parameters. Amazing!

Great, if you fix the sputtering
Are you like me where bubbling water doesn't bother you but sputtering water and splashing does? I ask this because if you follow the instructions of this breeding box you'll hear loud, obnoxious sputtering. I'm not quite sure why it sputters the way it does, but it was driving me crazy. So this is what I did. In the instructions, you'll see two parts, Intake Tube (9) and Discharge Cap (8). Follow the instructions in putting the breeding box together, but then do the following if the sputtering noise bothers you like it did me. Throw out the Discharge cap. Feed a three inch or so piece of airline tubing into the top part of the Intake Tube where the Discharge cap would normally be affixed. Just feed it enough to be secure. Place the other end of the airline tubing into the water of the breeding box. You'll get bubbling instead of sputtering, which for me is realms more tolerable. Other than that this is a great little box. I use it as a half semi filter, half moss and shrimp storage. Edit: By the way, when you make the fix above, make sure the airline tubing you use isn't too long. Too long and the water struggles to make it up U turn of the Intake Tube, which causes it to act like just an airpump, instead of pulling water from the main tank in. If this happens and you don't realize it can be quite bad. For instance, if your house is cold and your tank warm, the pump won't bring the warm water from the main tank into the breeding box, so the temperature will drop heavily. That's bad. You'll also be dealing with only the water volume of the box instead of the water volume of the whole tank, which is also bad. So say you have this breeder box on a 10 or a 20 gallon, and you fix it incorrectly so that it's only bringing air into the box, then you've only got the water quality of the box, which is tiny. So make sure that both water is making it into the box and that water is exiting the box through the overflow (it should at least drip constantly).

Perfect breeding box that'll save them all.
Since my crayfish seem to breed quite often, I decided to get this box so the babies don't get eaten. The breeding box is quite sturdy and durable. The suction does a good job of holding the tube for water. The assembly was easy. A little noise is made when water is pushed into the box using air. It is just the right size for lots and lots of baby crayfish.

Great value for your money.
The breeding box is amazing; it comes with its own tubes. You can change the water pressure going into the box as well. It hangs outside the aquarium and has a lid. You can also attach an airstone if needed. The water flows perfectly from the aquarium into the breeding box and back into the aquarium, so you don't have to worry about water changes. It doesn't need an additional filter. I have used it for my mystery snails and also for fish/shrimp acclimation. The box is a pretty good size, easy to use, and very stable. I definitely recommend getting one of these breeding boxes.

didn't keep the fry separated...
Seemed like a good idea, but the fry went right through all the strainers and right into my main tank. Worked great to isolate the mother, though.

Excellent Design and Perfect for Breeding or Quarantine
The Fluval Multi-Chamber Holding and Breeding Box (Medium) is an incredibly well-designed accessory for anyone who keeps fish, breeds them, or needs a safe space for fry or injured tank mates. The multiple compartments offer great flexibility — you can separate fry by size, isolate a stressed fish, or use it as a temporary acclimation area. One of the best features is the continuous water flow from the main aquarium, which keeps the environment stable and oxygen-rich without stressing the inhabitants. Setup is very simple, and the box attaches securely to the tank with no wobbling. The clear plastic allows easy monitoring, and the layout makes feeding and maintenance effortless. Overall, this breeding box is sturdy, thoughtfully designed, and extremely versatile. A must-have for breeders, hobbyists raising fry, or anyone who needs a reliable isolation space. Highly recommended! 🐟✨

One of the best Holding and breeding box
I have tried different types of breeding boxes and I consider Fluval holding and breeding box the best among them. It has everything that you need for an aquarium hobbyist. The size is very convenient comparing to others while I wish if Fluval can make a bigger size also. This is a complete set and you won't regret buying it. I highly recommend it.
