I have some ground in my backyard that is hard as heck. I'm a hefty fella. So when I say I jumped on a spade shovel trying to dig and only ended up getting half an inch at a time... this bad boy helped me significantly. Good steal, solid handle. Worked well for my backyard project. Like with anything, if you abuse it, it will break. This will last you a long time.

This pick mattock got the job done! Used this to clear large piles of dirt and rock left for years by previous owners. Weight was perfect for me. Sturdy and sharp, was able to pry a lot of large rocks out of ground to without worry of handle breaking. Been using this to get the rocks out of the ground to and it works like a charm!

Good quality hefty pick axe.

i used this when pulling some shrub rootballs. the different head angles were nice for busting out roots.

Shipping: Arrived on time. Shipping a large, skinny box that had holes all in it (I assume from the harper edge of the pick). Unpackaging: In the box was a handle and, separately wrapped, the pickaxe portion. Assembly: Simple. Slide the handle through the hole in the pickaxe. Use a soft mallet to help wedge the pickaxe onto the thicker end of the handle. Use: I used it to break up a huge pothole. I basically used it to break up hardened clay with rocks in a circle about 6 feet in diameter. I also used the flat blade side somewhat as a hoe. Efficiency: It worked very well. It cut through the hard clay with absolute ease. My shovels almost bent when trying, but this made it look like mush. It was easy to swing, and though there's nothing keeping the pickaxe on the handle except for the friction of being wedged onto the handle, it never came off or wiggled or anything. It has good weight, not too heavy, but also not so light that it bounces off the hard ground. The handle length is perfect too, and gives you enough swing motion to really bring it down into the ground with good force. Overall, it performed very well and I'm glad.

There was 150' of white marble landscape rock compacted into soil and grown over by grass and weeds that needed to be removed from both sides of a driveway, so 300' total. No way would a shovel or fork work to do the job. This pickaxe did the job quite well. The pointed end worked well to get in-between the rocks to separate them and pull them out. The flat edge helped to chop away small saplings and grass. The pickaxe isn't heavy at all. I'm a 68-y/o woman and had no difficulty handling it whatsoever. I give the item a three because no matter how hard I tried, I could not force the axe onto the handle and get it to stay there. I even tried pogo-sticking it. The not staying in place usually wasn't a problem. One time I forgot about it. Normally, I would raise the pickaxe over my shoulder and bring it down, but one sapling was particularly difficult to remove. Frustrated, to give it a harder blow, I raised the pickaxe over my head, and as I was bringing it down, the metal axe came loose, traveled down the handle and clobbered me on the head. Yeah. Hurt like crazy. Fortunately, I was wearing a suede hat so no blood was drawn and no ambulance needed -like I said, 68-y/o woman. It could have been much worse. My head and neck hurt just thinking about it.

Ordered this product. Delivery was delayed. Upon receipt, the item received was only the handle with nothing attached. There was no forged steel pick which renders the item useless. Thank you for wasting my time.
