Time to Kill, A (DVD)It's summer, and conflict simmers just below the surface of a steamy Southern town. Passions ignite after the brutal rape of a young blackgirl, and suddenly it's a time to question, to rage and to kill. Into this cauldron of bigotry and vengeance enters an idealistic young lawyer who risks his job, his home and his family to fight for justice in this hard-edged adaptation of John Grisham's best-selling novel.]] Review: Ensemble cast shine in a superior legal thriller - From the very emotional, brutal first scene in this movie, you are left with a sense of misplaced justice. key subject themes are racial bigotry, inequality faced by black communities in the Deep South from their white neighbours. Your senses are laid bare in every gut-wrenching scene in the first half of this movie. The ensemble cast featuring future Oscar winners McConaughey, Bullock, Spacey are mesmeric and the chemistry between the leading cast members is electric, but the supporting cast featuring Samuel L Jackson, Oliver Platt, Ashley Judd, and Donald and Kiefer Sutherland are excellent too making this film unmissable viewing and a riveting watch. The action is superbly paced by director Joel Schumacher, surely his best work ever. I found this film to be utterly believable, uncontrived, with a big heart that tackles very sensitive subject matter delicately, analytically and leaves you asking serious moral questions long after you have watched it. On my first viewing I cannot recommend the film highly enough and no doubt will watch it many times in the future as it should be rated one of the greatest films of all time. I love John Grisham as a legal thriller writer and most film adaptations of his source matter are first rate; full of suspense, action, and drama so if you love his books you MUST watch this movie. Review: Great Read, Great Movie - I watched this to see if it was anything like I imagined and yes it was almost exact and star studded cast to boot. Read this book years ago so it was good to watch the movie. Filmed just as it was written great author, enjoyed the film just as much as the book

A TIME TO KILL
I bought this because Sandra Bullock was in it, i like all of her films, but she is not in it much, but it does not matter because this is one hell of a film, one you will want to watch over and over again. Its BRILLIANT.

Good transfer to blu-ray - worth the upgrade
Most reviews have already discussed the film, so i wont bother with that now. Focussing on the quality of the transfer to blu-ray, this is, in my opinion, a very good transfer, with little lost in the transfer process, and so much gained in clarity and sound. I bought the Blu-Ray to replace the old flipper-style DVD (single-layer double-sided where you had to flip the DVD half way through) and am glad i did.

"Now imagine she is white..."
"Now imagine she is white..." There are few single statements in film that prove to be as shocking and effective as this statement. A Time to Kill is not without it's flaws but on the surface it is an extremely entertaining film that helps to expose an ugly truth within society, not just in the period for which it is set but also as it is today. This film works towards a closing argument that will make you take note. McCaughey and Jackson both put in strong performances while Bullock seems a little more out of place in this first seen drama for her earlier film career but that is not to say that she is bad in it, not at all. While films, like music are highly subjective items, I find this to be a very entertaining and thought provoking film that has made me a fan since I first saw it all those years ago. The Blur-ray features a clean and crisp transfer that you would expect for a Blu-ray but it is woefully short of any bonus materials or additional features. I highly recommend it for the film itself, missing extras should not be a deterrent to see or buy this film.

Consigliatissimo.!
