Q: I see where someone stated the hair dryer comes with a 5-year warranty. I don't see that stated anywhere. Should I purchase the protection plan?

HI I did return the blow dryer, as it stopped working after 3 months via Amazon. I did not have the 5 year protection plan and did receive a refund. I then bought another dryer and have had zero problems with it. I am not much into buying warranties because they come with their own separate terms. I hope that helps (-;

Q: I'm traveling to Scotland, can this be used with a power adapter?

I'm in South Korea and I use a power converter (not adapter). You have to make sure that whatever you use can handle the voltage/wattage. Voltage: 120V, 60Hz Watts: 1680 As I understand it, if you just use an adapter it will damage it since it will be getting 220V instead of 120V.

Q: Does it have cool setting that stays, i.e. there is no need to hold down?

There is a button to press for a cool shot and 3 regular temperature settings
