Wondering if the wool is sheered from a sheep 🐑 otherwise unharmed?

ummm I don't think so - I do believe it is attached to the skin. perhaps in a perfect world they make use of the whole sheep as in wonderful lamb chops. AKA rack of lamb with mint jelly perhaps?

How do you clean the duster itself?

There is a cleaner you can buy for lambs wool dusters. I do not use it though. I frequently vacuum the duster and that works for me.

does this come with something to put it in when not in use

No, it doesn't. I just tuck it into a bag with a few other cleaning supplies.

How long is the duster head?

The duster head is 8-1/2" long and the lambs wool extends about 3" beyond that. The handle is about 8-1/4" long. Hope this is helpful.
