Each Speaker has two small Flat slide switches on the edge of the woofers. What do these switches do? there are wires connected to them.

Why does amazon have "buy it with" the bluetooth hwa-16bt which does not connect to bt speakers?

You could use each set individually. But not at the same time. Due to the way bluetooth work you can only pair one device at a time. You could use 4 speakers at one time but would want to have a switch to turn the volume off when you don't want the outdoors or the kitchen on.
