The head came off as soon as it came in the mail. Is this normal or correct that the head is detachable?

From my experience, no. The product I received was, and still is, fully intact. The head detaching is not ok. Just ask the real Dwight, Rainn Wilson. Jokes aside, should be returned; my product is high quality.
