Air dry clay
The grandkids play for hours with these air dry clay. It enhances their imaginations. They hold up well as long as they are sealed up. I’ve bought hundreds of these for the last several years and they still love them.

Easy to work with but a little messy
Lightweight and moldable but it does leave some black residue especially if you use water to smooth it out. Worked well for my purposes but I would probably just use the white in the future and paint it after drying.
