Knipex 12 62 180 7,09" Insulation Strippers

Works well on various sized wires. Insulated so that cutting live wires by mistake won't lead to a shock. Wish I'd bought it years ago.

Automatically strips wires by cutting into and tearing off insulation without nicking the metal underneath. You can set the length of strip between 6 and 18 mm. This works in tight spaces where you can get pliers-type strippers in. Will strip wires from 24 to 10 ga. Doesn't work so well on teflon insulated wire. It seems to be made of some sturdy plastic and the handles are very comfortable to hold and operate the tool.

I used this for a project to rewire my home intercom system using Cat5 cable. Great tool for stripping wires once it's dialed in properly. Out of the box, it probably won't work well until you set the cut depth correctly. Also worth noting: the wires need to be pretty straight, otherwise the tool won't strip them cleanly. Once you get the settings right, it works great.

My husband got the biggest smile when he got this. He had always used cheapos and knockoffs...they broke, rusted or worked so poorly they were left in the toolbox in favor of a pocket knife. Now, I think he looks for wires to strip and fix just because the tool is so well made and works so well.

I recently worked on a hotel project. These strippers made all the difference! Easily stripped 12ga wire and allowed me to work in tight spaces that any other wire stripper would not allow me to do.

It strips single wires fine but any wires that have insulation around it, it doesn't strip well

No misses on 14 or 12 ga THHN. I've been refreshing all the outlets and switches in a house, and this stripper has worked flawlessly. My Vise Grip auto stripper would have had countless misses. On this Knipex, if you push the wire to where it moves the red stopper, it'll strip short, so just touch the wire to the stopper and it'll work great . The stripper is so light, it's not fatiguing to use all day.
