Mr. Heater Universal Fuel Filter

I recently purchased the Mr. Heater Universal Fuel Filter, and it has proven to be an excellent addition to my propane heater setup. If you own a Mr. Heater Buddy or any propane heater that uses disposable cylinders or connects to a larger tank via a hose, this fuel filter is a must-have. Pros: 1. Effective Protection: This filter effectively prevents contaminants like oil and debris from entering the heater, which can be a common issue when using propane tanks. It ensures the heater operates efficiently without clogging, which ultimately extends the life of the unit. 2. Easy Installation: The filter is straightforward to install—just screw it between the propane tank and the hose. It’s also compact, so it doesn’t add bulk to the setup. 3. Universal Compatibility: True to its name, this filter works with a variety of Mr. Heater products, and it’s compatible with both 1 lb disposable cylinders and 20 lb tanks with hoses. This versatility is a big plus. 4. Cost-Effective Solution: Considering the protection it offers for your heater, the price is quite reasonable. It could save you money in the long run by preventing costly repairs or replacements. Cons: 1. Limited Lifespan: The filter needs to be replaced periodically, especially if you use your heater frequently. It’s recommended to replace it after every propane cylinder or every season, depending on your usage. 2. No Clear Indicator: It would be helpful if there were a way to tell when the filter needs to be changed. You have to go by feel and experience or notice any performance drops. It keeps your heater running smoothly and prolongs its lifespan by filtering out impurities. I’d highly recommend it to anyone using portable propane heaters.

I recently had to strip down and drain out the oil that had leeched out of the Mr Heater propane extension hose into the the Mr Heater Buddy. The oil blocks the pipes to the pilot light and stops the heater from functioning. This happened because I was not using the fuel filter at the time. So if like me you want to keep the garage warm with the buddy connected to a 13kg Calor cylinder using the Mr Heater Hose ( not seen or tried a UK hose for the Mr Heater Buddy) then consider this fuel filter as a mandatory item. When using the Camping style cylinders without an extension hose, I have never had a problem or needed a fuel filter, I have used around 70 small cylinders without issue. So the most likely source of the oil is leeching from the Mr Heater hose.

I was only able to use 1lb bottles which can get REALLY expensive! (Better if you refill the 1lb bottles from a 20lb bottle). Whenever I connected a 20lb bottle it wouldn't stay running for more than a few seconds. Didn't think that this little filter would help, but gave it a shot. Runs awesome! WAY CHEAPER! plus it's really nice not having to wake up in the middle of the night to swap bottles. If you have a Mr. Buddy heater, this is a "Must have" item. You won't be disappointed! 😃

Great fit for all buddy heater and needed for attaching 20# tanks. Never had an issue with leaks and really easy to attach. No rust and filters great.
