The bait is protected in that it is covered and not able to be easily stolen by a mouse. Small insects such as ants would still be able to enter the bait area.

Yes, this is quick and install kill trap, designed to slam on their head with 100% accuracy I would say. (or close to 100%)

Will these work on larger rats?

while these are deadly and works wonderfully for mice, they would not work for rats or chipmunks.
