When removing my stock handbrake knob I tried to avoid marring the stock knob by wrapping it in tape before grabbing onto it with a pair of pliers. I was mostly successful but only mostly. If I were doing it again I would be sure to fully remove the handbrake grip before attempting to remove the tip to avoid all pote risk marring. I didn’t do this at the time because I was under the impression I would need a heat gun, which I ended up not even needing. Then when installing this unit I chose to leave out the spring to convert this handbrake knob into a “drift button”. I haven’t made use of this functionality yet but I like having it in case I need it. The color is high quality and matches other items from this brand such as the knobs for my climate controls as well as my paddle shifter extensions from a different brand entirely. Gives a racer aesthetic that I enjoy but may not be for everyone. It’s definitely gotten me into a better habit of using my emergency brake because of how fun it is to pull up and then set. My only gripe and the reason for the 1 star deduction is it wiggles a little bit. I know it wiggles because I installed it without the stock spring but other models from other brands of this same item come with an o-ring which i imagine helps reduce that wiggle significantly. Despite this fact this is the one I would order again because it’s the color I want and I don’t mind the wiggle that much. I may at some point in the future install a nut onto the rod that this connects to in order to eliminate the wiggle while maintaining all of the functionality.
