Dissolving Classroom

Honestly, I've read all of Ito and while this is far from his best (imo, Gyo) I really enjoyed the simplicity of the plot. It's basically like how he used Tomie the character, I mean. Tldr; it's the only paperback Ito manga and I read it in under 30 minutes.

So Junji Ito ... my wife is addicted to his writing and manga ... so when he was at SDCC ... I knew I was in trouble. So we went to his speaking engagement and the man is really brilliant (honestly I had no idea who he was prior to this) ... I felt bad for him because his hands are very badly gnarled because of years of drawing. But no one can take away the horror he inspires with everything he writes and draws. He creates horrors that give nightmares horrors ... the things he writes and draws is amazing and terrifying and beautiful at the same time. The stories are all enthralling and tell tales that will give you nightmares but you will soon realize that even your nightmares pale in comparison to the nightmares he is writing. It's truly awe inspiring to be honest. One day we will lose this horror genre master but for now, I recommend everyone buy his books and be both inspired and terrified.

I liked this story, it was interesting and I liked the characters, this isnt as long as the spiral story though.

I would most definitely recommend this. Though I must say it is not his best. As always Mr. Ito has amazing artworks and a decent storytelling, but you could feel this wasn't his main priority at the time.

While this is not one of the best collections from Ito, it is very clearly a more biting take on the culture around public apologies. What stands out here is the Tomie form of narrative, which is stories that have a common antagonist that eventually come together at the end. This is the same thing Ito has done with Uzumaki and Tomie, both of which have very loose continuities but similar characters, thematics, and locations. I think this is the more effective of these loosely knit stories while if you want a more traditional long form story then his adaptations of Frankenstein and No Longer Human are probably the safest bets. Here, the common factor are a brother and sister couple. I recommend this issue for those who are really looking for a more outwardly humorous Ito or someone, like me, who never really get tired of his narratives and artistic stylings even if they don’t necessarily compete with the others in his body of work.

If Junji Ito was a descriptor, the book would neatly fall under it. Classic and I love it, the Chizumi in love story caught me off guard and made me smile for some reason. Also fair warning the book may make you light headed and give a runny nose, but its probably fine. :)

My daughter enjoyed it thoroughly. It took her 1 day glued to the book and finished it. I wish i had the dedication as well... :)
