Easy to use, if...
This is easy to use, and works well. They also sell a set where one is reversed to you can do 'toward' or 'away' from the blade. It's kind of crunchy which can make adjustment touchy. I took it apart and used a fingernail sanding file to smooth the surfaces. I even took the nuts off and smoothed the surfaces. Any place metal moves and rubs I make sure there were no 'nubs' and now it's like a high priced precision tool

The quality is great
I had to return the 1 x 30 in. belt sander. If I were to do it again I would get a slow speed sander. It chewed up my knife. Quick. I could take the time and learn to use it on the fast speed 3600 rpm machine , or get a slower speed sander like I did.

Well made guide
This angle guide works very well with wide blade knives. However, no so good wit narrow blades like paring or pocket knives - the gap between the top of guide and the sanding belt makes it very difficult to maintain the desired angle. I’m thinking about closing the gap by taping a piece of say 1/8” plastic on the guide. Hopefully that will work.

Works well with harbor freight 1x30
Some pros and some cons. By its very design their has to be a gap between the leading edge and the sanding belt. At high angles this gap is minimized but gets greater at lower angles. This means that the knive blade has to be wider at the lower angles to keep the back edge from falling into the gap. It would be nice if they could add a plate to the surface that could be slid in and out to close the gap at any angle setting. As a workaround I used double sided carpet tape to hold a small piece of 1/16 inch acrylic that I sawed down to 1 inch wide by 3 inches long. I set the angle at a25 degrees and taped the plastic in place so that the gap was minimized. This helps with narrower knife blades that I want to grind at 20 or 25 degree angles. If I want to use lower or higher angles I will simply pull this plastic off and reposition it. Being only one inch wide it takes some practice to use this. I start with the blade edge slid down away from the belt, then slowly slide it up until it just makes contact with the belt, and then draw it across the length of the blade. It removes metal fast to the blade needs to be slid along fairly quickly. Practice on a junk knife.

Does the Job!
An easy clip on install! However, it came to mind while using this guide that the lower edge needed an adjustable lip to help keep an even edge while moving the blade over the 1 X 30 belt. I have made and installed such a unit that will accept blades with a width up to 3.5 inches. It sure helped the beginner like myself to perfect my sharpening skills.

Very impressed with the seller
While the guide did not fit my LEE VALLEY belt sander I do have a couple of comments. First off: the spring clip for fitting the guide to the sander platen is a really good idea - it makes it easy to attach. Second: the seller stands behind their product - I had a problem with return shipping and, Amazon was of virtually no help, the seller was prompt helping to provide a solution.

Adjustments required
You have to fine tune this if you’re going to be using it a lot for knife sharpening. The angles marked aren’t even close so disregard. Alexandria sharpening on u tube has an excellent video on what needs to be done to fine tune this little gauge. Works as advertised but not accurate until it’s modified
