I highly recommend this book. Not only does it help you write the College Essay, but it provides you with tips you can use throughout your academic career. It also puts the College Essay in perspective and it empowers the writer and fills them with confidence that they can do this. I ordered the book for my high school junior, but since he is swamped at this time, I started reading it first. I cannot wait until he reads it, I am sure he will be hooked.As a mom, I feel like this book is the best guidance and advice a mother could give her child. The author does not hold anything back.She provides all the tools, or even better, she tells the reader that they are already equipped with the tools, now they have to put them to use.Thank you for this book.

If you've been out of an English class for some time or just need a review of how to write a coherent essay, this book will cover the basics. Although helpful for high school juniors, the authors also direct their advice to parents, international students, vets and transfers. I read this as a transferring student, already half way done with my essays. Found good organization tips and focusing advice. The book stresses uniqueness, telling you to avoid writing a resume trap.

I am unable to rate this purchase. It was a gift and I never opened the book. The book arrived on time and was well packaged.

This book was purchased along with the SAT book. Both books are excellent and will help with the transition from High School to College. This book gives the learner an idea what the instructors will be looking for in the assignments so the learner can be more prepared to successfully complete the instructor's assignments.

I love this book! The author did a great job helping students with college application essay and relaxing during college application process. I can say that working on the college application is one of the most stressful things I have ever done. And this book really helps me! Thank you very much!

Write about yourself!

I am very disappointed with this book. It isn't really about writing a college application but rather about the application process and general writing. It is not well written and jumps around between topics.

Very nice written and really helps me alot. Mcginty had charm on this without wasting any more words I'd say it's worth buying.
