Very good keyboard for Surface Pro
This product looks very good and functional, It's just few days I'm using the keyboard so I will not mention anything about the battery life but from reviews of other fellow reviewers it seems to last long time and the thing that can be switched off It's a plus to keep the battery life even for longer. The keyboard, that comes with a usb charging cable looks great and all the keys are working fine. (included Delete that if it's locked needs to be unlocked with Fn key) the feel is almost the same as a laptop and the mouse pad works good and also is thin but very solid and it works as a cover and this is one of the thing I appreciate most. Very happy about this product, the value for money is excellent, I would recommend it if you need a keyboard and cover in the same product for the Surface Pro

Good keyboard, touchpad has issues
Overall 4 star. This reviews is compare this cover with Microsoft type cover. Pros * Wireless * Better key positions * Almost identical key size and layout to original * Price Cons * Heavier * Thicker * Touchpad is not touch precision touchpad * Touchpad not as smooth as the original * Touchpad can affect typing * Touchpad need third party software to work with Verdict This is a quite interesting product with flaws. Microsoft failed to produce a reliable wireless adaptor for its type cover a few years ago. This type cover solves the problem. Overall, it is not as good as Microsoft cover in terms of weight, typing and trackpad. However, the killing feature here is wireless. If you are looking for that feature, this is what you need. If you are looking for alternative type cover, cheaper type cover, it does the job too. If are not pursuing the wireless but the best experience, don't care the price, Microsoft type cover is your choice. If Artech can improve the touchpad to match the original cover, that will be amazing. At least, it will be much better if they can address it with a driver / software. I think people won't mind to pay a little more if they fix these issues. After all, you can use it wirelessly! Detailed review I have Microsoft type cover, Logitech K400Plus, and this cover now. Here is my detailed review. With this cover, I can lie back and place it on my lap, place my surface Pro high place or just on table, then start typing. The experience is superb. I can still type very easily. I can move my body back and forth, and place the cover on to table as well when I like. I can type easily even when I cross my legs and put it on my lap. I can place the keyboard anywhere on my desk I like, which is amazing. The experience with this is better than K400 Plus for some situations. As this let your palm to rest on the cover, and the trackpad is just next to your figure. While K400 Plus is an excellent wireless keyboard, the feeling of typing is a lot worse than this, and you need move your hand to the far right side to use the touchpad. If you are looking for something to use with a TV, where you could be 10 feet away from your PC, K400 Plus is far better, as WIFI connection is faster than Bluetooth. Otherwise, this is a perfect keyboard with trackpad to use with any PC with Bluetooth connection. It is heavier than the original cover. Same black edition, the original cover is 310g, this cover is 348g. It is thicker, probably 50% thinker than the original cover. I don't have a good tool to measure it yet. Keyboard The most keys are exactly placed as same locations as the original cover. Big `Left Right` keys as the original. I really like it. Another brand has half sized of these keys and put `Page Up` and `Page Dn` as half size keys instead. `Home`, `PgUp`, `PgDn`, `End` is placed in better locations. When used with `Fn` and `Ctrl`, these keys are very handy for code navigation. `Ctrl + F10` to bring out opened windows, very handy. Then you can close it with `Ctrl + W` or tap the window directly. There is a key to let you know battery status with indictors on the cover. Those two indicator lights are nice to have. You can disable touchpad with `Fn + Space`, which is useful sometimes. You can lock the `Fn` Keys, really nice! The feeling of typing is slightly worse than the original cover, much better than K400 plus. Given the plus of above, I am quite happy with the keyboard. One last tip for people having K400 keyboard, You can install Logitech Option software, then connect the K400 board once. This will give you a On Screen Display(OSD) to show current Caps Lock status whenever you press the key. It is very nice to have. Touchpad The trackpad is not shown as a touch pad in Win10 Device manager. It is treated as a mouse instead. Out of the box, the scroll direction is not natural. I googled and found I can change it by editing register value. However, it changes the zoom in/out too. I don't use that much and can use `Ctrl + / - ` to zoom in/out , so not a big issue. However, the pointer jumps / changes / dances randomly when typing, it can result in your cursor move to another place suddenly / or goes back to previous page then you lost all your typing. This never happens with the original type cover. It makes typing almost impossible sometimes. I need disable it to type properly. Later I found some solutions to workaround it. Personally I feel the scroll direction should be move down figure to scroll down, move up to scroll up. At least, this should be able to configured for users. Solution for the trackpad * Edit register key to change the scroll direction, you can google to find how to do it. * Use a software called re touchpad blocker to reduce the dancing of cursor when typing * Use` Fn + Space` to disable it completely when typing, remember to do it again to enable it when you need use it. After fixing the scroll direction issue, I am now able to move my two figures down to scroll down rather than scroll up! Touchpad blocker, this tool is excellent to workaround the issue. It reduce the chance of the dancing of cursor by 90% for me. I don't need bother to disable the touch pad completely now. I recommend it to anyone using this cover. Artech should really include this fix through a driver or software.

This is the keyboard Microsoft should have made.
Bought as a replacement for a years-old MS keyboard which came with the Surface. The minor downsides compared to the MS product: it's a little heavier, down to the battery I guess. The action feels a little more "clicky" and the plastic a little lower quality than the MS keyboard. To be clear though, this isn't a Fisher Price "My first keyboard" and it's nice to use. The Enter key is oblong and not an L-shape. And the fabric feels a little more synthetic than the MS one. These are all little deficiencies, though and without the advantage of the MS keyboard to compare against, don't think I'd have noticed. Downsides out of the way, the BT connection transforms the usability of the machine. I can place the screen on the other side of the desk, at the end of a desk sharing the screen, or on the tray table on a train or plane and work with the keyboard in my lap. I've dropped the kick-stand on the Surface into the magazine slot on a plane seat back and worked with the keyboard on the table, comfortable facing a screen at head height. The magnet is strong enough to hold the keyboard onto the Surface, with the keyboard dangling from the machine and battery life isn't an issue. It just makes using the Surface as a laptop an immensely more comfortable and enjoyable experience. Add to that the cost saving against the MS product and it's hard to make a case against this.

Great keyboard for the price!!
Got a Surface Pro 3 cheap so I didn't want to spend a lot on the official keyboard. Then I came across this beauty. Key response is good and the quality is what you would hope for, for occasional typing. Reading about the product I see that some people are saying the delete key does not work but I suspect this is because they haven't switched the function over (using Fn + Esc). Also handy that you can separate the keyboard from the tablet as it is a bluetooth connection. Battery life seems good although I've only been using this for a coupe of days and the touchpad is of a good size. All in all, a great product but if I was to have one gripe, it would be the material chosen for the outer cover. Perhaps use something more hard-wearing and a little less "absorbent". I can imagine if someone were to fold the keyboard down onto a wet surface, the "suede" like material would get damaged. Nothing a little care won't avoid though and shouldn't detract away from the fact that this is a great product!

Cheap but does the job just.
Only connnects via bluethooth, which does drain the laptops battery a bit. Mouse pad is also not great, its hard to do a left click.

Solid piece of kit
I really like this keyboard, I'm even using it to write this review. It maybe lacks some of the refinement of a Microsoft Typecover (no backlit keys, louder keystrokes), but it more than makes up for it in terms of value for money. The Bluetooth connection works faultlessly, and I like that the keyboard can be detached from the Surface Pro to work at a distance. The trackpad has support for multi-touch, but if you find yourself catching it whilst typing, Function key + spacebar toggles it on/off. Some reviews mentioned the delete key not working, but I think as someone else said, this is probably because they had F12 set as the default action (Delete and F12 are on the same key). You can toggle the default action of the top row of function keys by pressing the Function key + ESC. So all in all, an excellent piece of kit that has given my Surface Pro a new lease of life.

One advantage - lots of negatives
This review is comparing the Arteck to the official Surface keyboard: The advantage - it is bluetooth so you don't have to have it connected physically. This allows you to have the keyboard further from the screen or wherever you want in the room if the Surface is connected to a big TV for instance. This of course can be useful. Disadvantages: - the pad does not work as well with the left/right clicks being temperamental, zoom not being as smooth and apparently the side swipes (for going back/forward a page when on Chrome for instance) do not work at all. - not integrated as well with your Surface so for instance when you close the 'cover' it does not tell the Surface to go to sleep. This means I have often come back and turned on the Surface to find the battery dead. Also means it doesn't wake up with the touchpad. - keys sound and feel a bit cheap in comparison. - needs charging, although not often to be fair as it lasts very well. - no back lit keys. - enter key is half the size and the delete key is weird but you can get used to both of these. Over all I think I would have paid the extra and gone for the Microsoft official one if I had the choice again. However, as a cheaper alternative and with the advantage of being able to physically separate the keyboard, I imagine this is still a good choice for many people. Update.... Since leaving this review I have been contacted by Arteck customer services who made an effort to make me feel more positive about this product. Although the keyboard itself is still working the same way, I have increased the review by one star (now 4) to reflect the fact that they spotted a unhappy customer and tried to find a solution.

Great alternative to the Microsoft keyboard!
Really good keyboard, connects to the Surface Pro really easily both physical connection and Bluetooth connection. Looks and feels really well built, only had it a week or so so canโt really comment on battery life but itโs not needed charging since been out of the box with a few hours use a day. I think this has one advantage over the Microsoft Type keyboard that since itโs Bluetooth you can use it whilst itโs not physically connected which is handy depending on how you have your work area set up. Overall really happy with the product.

Its does not give feeling of Original Laptop.
I recently purchased this Surface keyboard from Amazon, but unfortunately, it does not match the quality of the original keyboard. There is no light indicator on the function keys, which makes it difficult to use. It requires pressing Function Key along with other key. The touchpad also does not provide the smooth and responsive feel of the original Surface laptop keyboard. Additionally, since this keyboard requires charging, it is difficult to determine the battery percentage, which is quite inconvenient. Overall, I regret buying this product. In my opinion, it is better to upgrade your old Surface device with an original keyboard rather than purchasing this alternative.

Affordable, & it works!
Very good product, I appreciate being able to afford the keyboard that works with the surface. My work gave me the tablet but no keyboard, so it was on my dime. Thank you
