Founding fathers of Atlanta's "flower punk" movement the Black Lips release Arabia Mountain , their sixth full-length album, June 7th 2011 on longtime label Vice. Arabia Mountain was recorded between Brooklyn and Atlanta over the last few months of 2010 with the collaborative assistance of celebrated DJ and producer Mark Ronson, Lockett Pundt of Deerhunter, and a human skull with a microphone jammed into it. Review: best Black Lips ever! - awesome album! i've only listened to the first two songs and it's amazing so far. i've seen them live, and they're just as good in person. even if you're not a fan yet, buy this cd and you will be soon :] Review: Strong all around record - This is a great record. The way records sounded back before music videos. If you like the Kinks classic period and British Invasion music in general that will draw you into Arabia Mountain. It is a lot more than an homage to old bands though. The songs are sharp and have strong hooks. There is an occasional corny lyric and a short spoken word piece in between two tracks I could do without, or it would be a 5 star rating. About half the songs are excellent and there isn't anything what I would consider filler.
