16857 Cool Air Intake Kit

After a lot of research, I found this CAI to be the best choice for my 03' Dodge Ram. The quality of construction and aesthetics are superb, this intake looks great in the engine bay. One thing I really liked about it is the fact that it attaches to the Hemi Hat rather than having to remove it. Installation was a breeze as well. Installing a CAI isn't just to make your vehicle look good, but to increase performance. The term CAI is "Cold Air Intake". A lot of intake designs are nothing more than a shield over a filter. If we are not bringing in outside air, it's not really a CAI. The Volant has an optional "scoop" that attaches to the bottom of the air box and extends down to a source of cool, outside air. I opted for the design that attaches to one of the fog light openings. This not only allows the cooler outside air to enter, but at higher speeds, you have a forced air system. As I don't own a dyno, I can't give any real data on actual gains, but from my personal point of perspective this has made a significant difference in performance across the entire powerband.

It was everything the company said it was in their claims. It was easy to install. It definitely added more power to my truck. It has a nice rumble to let you know its there. My Dodge Power Wagon Hemi makes its power between 3500rpm and 5000rpm and you really hear the intake between those ranges. I pull a 5th wheel travel trailer in the mountains and normally I am in 1st gear climbing Vail pass west bound. After install I climbed the pass in 2nd for most of the pass. Biggest power gain I have seen.

Came earlier than I expected. Wich was good. I was charged extra by ups because of shipping but that's not the sellers problem. Literally took me 30 minutes to take my old intake out and pop the Volant in. I noticed at higher rpms I have more pep. And gaining speed. I have a programmer and headers so this a nice add on. I can hear the air going into the truck at full throttle aswell. Not to loud but enough to hear it. All in all good price good buy.

I have always used K&N intakes on all of my vehicles but this time I wanted to do something different. I definately feel like Volant was the way to go. This intake defintely makes a difference, I noticed a 1-2 mpg increase in my gas milaege, which anyone who own a Hemi knows thats a huge help. I also noticed the throttle is more responsive. Cons- First I just want to say, dont install this in the dark with a flashlight lol, it can be kind of a pain to install so you need all the light you can get. The box it self drops in almost perfect, will take a little manipulation of the rubber guides on the bottom but it lines up great and is well secured. The neck takes a bit of finness to get it just right, and the vent tube gets to be a tight fit. Also the directions dont really have pictures so be prepared for that. I want to emphasize that if your looking for sound, this is not the intake for you, due to the enclosed box you dont get very much of a hum as you do with the K&N intakes. Nor do you get the "sucking" sounds. All in all this is a great intake and Im very happy with it.

The Volant intake arrived as promised and was easy to install. I immediately noticed that the throttle was much more responsive and my truck to seem to have more power! Well worth the investment

This item was true to form, easy to install and fit very nicely. Not sure if it increased the horsepower but did get me a little more mileage. Good purchase

I'm not sure of the difference between the stock air filter box and the Volant because i installed the Volant before i even started my trucks reman engine at zero miles. Somewhere after 14.5K on the reman engine the OBD began to repeatedly throw a downstream "lean" code. I just finished replacing the pcv valve housing p-ring and retorquing the valve cover bolts. While re-installing the Volant i noticed a crack in the air intake tube. Upon further inspection i could clearly see the failure. So, back to the stock air filter box.
