Humility (Essential Christian Classics) Review: To see what is pride. - Amazing book ,every Christian must have ,it changed my perspective about Pride. If you get hurt when someone vexes you ,it's the flesh it's the pride that gets hurt .Anyway read the book you will see it for yourself. Bleesings. Review: GREAT book but horrible edition - This book is TREMENDOUS! Every Believer should read it. HOWEVER, do not buy this particular edition. I bought it for my staff because it was much cheaper than the other editions. It is not edited well at all (mistakes and half the time doesn't have paragraphs, so it's a bunch of sentences bundled together and hard to read). It's like someone took a poor PDF and had it copied (it has no publisher and no copyright, so maybe that's what they did). It's worth a little more $ to buy a book that is readable and you can keep. It's THAT good of a book.

Excellent Book
The cure for a prideful, self centered, earthly view of life. Shared this book with several others and all praise it. Short, easy to read, and full of useful information.

Humility: The highest fulfillment of our destiny. How and Why.
"Humility." Today it is a virtue that is sometimes praised, other times scorned. But mostly in our day, I think that Humility is misunderstood. This thin little book written by Andrew Murray, born in South Africa in 1828, is part of a collection some call an Essential Christian Classic. And it is to Mr. Murray and from his era that I think we get closer to the heart of the true meaning of the virtue of humility. In its preface: "We shall see that just as Jesus found His glory in taking the form of a servant [...] When we see that humility is something infinitely deeper than contrition, and accept it as our participation in the life of Jesus, we shall begin to learn that it is our true nobility, and that to prove it in being servants of all is the highest fulfillment of our destiny, as men created in the image of God."

This is the original version of Murray’s book, with some typos.
This is the original text by Murray, and some may find preferable to more recent versions edited “for the modern reader” which slightly dull the edges of the author’s incisiveness for simplicity’s sake. The King James’ version which the author used has been replaced with the New International Version. The author’s notes at the end of each chapter are in this version included at the end of each chapter, as originally published and are sometimes particularly clarifying to the points being made. In newer versions these notes are at the back of the book without even a footnote indicating that something is missing so that they made not be considered until later if at all. Note A at the end of chapter one is remarkably powerful and in this edition follows in its place as the author intended. The only reason I give four stars issue is that there are transcription errors which force the reader to decipher what was originally written. (See photo.) However, a patient reader who doesn’t want to miss the slightest intonation of the author will still prefer this version.

My favorite are the preachers of the 17th and 1800 years.
Yes, the seller was accurate and the book arrived on time. Now about the book humility and the author Andrew Murray. I just don’t know where to begin. This is my first book by this author. I’ve often heard him mention in seasoned ministers. And I can see why. He is very humble, heartfelt intelligible of the Holy Spirit and the world of the Lord a true question. About his writings, I wouldn’t change a thing. And if you are able to get his books in the language that it was written, it flows with understanding and purpose. I’ve only read to the 10th page. I need not to read more before I leave this review. It’s everything I’m looking for. Not full of opinions. But of true through revelation. I recommend the book to anyone who is serious about their relationship with the Lord

This is a must-read for all Christians
This book is great. Murray's language is a little "dense" -- heavier reading than the average person today but the edited versions help make it easier. The content is superb on a little known and under-taught, under-appreciated, important aspect of Christianity. Humility is not supposed to be as we usually imagine it -- a cringing, hand-wringing Uriah Heep. Humility is the chief characteristic of Christ and of Heaven. Those who are not seeing this hallmark of heaven growing in their life as they surrender to the will of the Father (just as Christ did) may be in danger. In my own case, I was often frustrated with a lack of joy, of anointing & power in my Christian walk and could never discover why. While I was often sanguine, I was also often easily disturbed and upset by things. I didn't want to be. I recognized that I ought not to be...but what was missing? Filled with tips that go beyond the subject of humility, the author then circles back again and helps you see how so many aspects of the Christian life are related to humility. This book connected the dots for me. I only wish that it was required reading at every seminary so that all preachers could be instructed in this very important aspect and pass it on.

This message of this book is a MUST for all serious followers of Christ. Although the essence of the message is clear, the way it is written can render the message a bit difficult to understand, as the text does not appear to have been edited over the years. There are several publishers that have printed this little book. I like the print of this one. It is darker rather than light and the lines are single rather than double. There are 42 pages which present the entire text. Other Publishers have more pages, that is because they have used double lines but the same text.
