This item doesn't do anything. It loads a windows 10 desktop and then doesn't do anything?

When I first inserted the disk I thought it was not doing anything as well my screen was grey. What you need to do is leave the disk in the pc/laptop running. Depending on how fatal the error is on the hardrive is how long it will take to fix. Then it shuts the pc/laptop after the fix and reboot at least twice it happened on my laptop. The process took over 8hrs for me because of the errors I had. My laptop runs on windows 7. I hope this helps goodluck!

This kind of disk will boot your system. It can reinstall your windows. If you reinstall it will delete everything. You should have recorded the Windows disc number when you got the computer or from your last install. if you don't have it Microsoft account will have it, if you call them. Otherwise it will be a trial version until you pay up. You don't say why you got locked out? It may let you copy data files off before you reinstall. Depending on the cause it may or/may not let you repair the existing install. Worth a shot.

Important to know first

Unfortunately this disc runs using a windows 10 based image, (from my research) this means that it doesn't always work in restoring older Windows XP computers since the windows 10 image requires more Ram than they have available

I was blown away with all the tools that are provided on this one rescue disk!!!!

I was blown away with all the tools that are provided on this rescue disk. Everything that one would need to revive a vintage OS. This rescue disk should be in your tool box if you still run windows 7 for sure! A nasty vrius took me down. It would not allow most of the repair processes to happen. Told me both my backup drives needed formatted when I tried to access them. Nasty! I found a workaround on that repair disk and I'm back up and running!!! Thanks!

Won't work on older 32-bit processors (e.g. Windows Vista 32-bit)

Simply wouldn't work.. I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6147 with Windows Vista and Intel Pentium Dual Core T2060 1.6 GHz processor. When inserting the CD into the drive and setting it to boot from the CD-ROM a Blue Square Windows logo appears on the screen for a long time, and the CD-ROM drive activity light is active. Eventually I am presented with a blue error screen which says: "Recovery Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. This 64-bit application couldn't load because your PC doesn't have a 64-bit processor.... File: \windows\sytem32\boot\winload.exe Error code: 0xc000035a" If I remove the CD and boot from the hard drive everything starts normally, and I am presented with the login screen and the account for which I have forgotten my password.. Seller's website is no longer active, and the email they provide on the instruction card goes un-answered. Attempts to contact via Amazon went unanswered well. Returned item for full refund

Not useful for Windows 10

Boots my computer up in Windows 7 and won't allow me to connect to WiFi to download windows 10. Probably better to acquire a Windows 10 specific install source.
