Norpro Ceramic Pie Bird

This little bird does the job pretty well and doubles as a cute little decoration to sit in the window or on a shelf. Makes a great little gift for anyone you know who enjoys making homemade pies

Very nice and functional

The Norpro Ceramic Pie Bird is a useful and whimsical item to have in any baker's kitchen. The pie bird works very effectively at venting double crusted pies. To use, simply place the bird in the center of a double crusted pie before baking - you simply cut a small hole on the top of the crust then place the bird in. The accumulated steam will vent out of the bird's open mouth while the pie bakes. I like adding additional decorative cuts on the top of my pies along with the bird - this ensures that no pie filling will leak out and be lost to the bottom of the oven. When not in use, the bird makes a cute little shelf decoration. The little black bird is very well made and feels quite durable. The bird I received had no chips or cracks, and his color was consistent all over. I've received many compliments on this silly little bird - he's both a useful and adorable little tool to use when baking filled pies.

I have not used it yet, but it was so cute I had to get it. I am sure it will work fine.

Came well packaged, works as it should to keep pies from overflowing, easy to clean and store. It's a good deal and really helps prevent messes

I loved that this little bird was very sturdy and I can tell that it will be a great asset in baking pies in my kitchen for many years. Mine came wrapped safely in a little box which will be easy to store in my utensil drawer. I am considering purchasing several more of these little birds for my grown daughters and daughter-in-law for stocking stuffers and also for times when I need an extra little something to go in a gift bag with other small items.

I remember having had a pie bird a long time ago, and wanted another, as I do make a lot of pies, and they are so helpful. So I found it on Amazon finally, and have gotten it now, and am very happy with it. They really do keep pies from bubbling over and making a mess in the oven.
