No, it will not spin is heavy, more like a paperweight.

Can these go in a propane gas fire pit?

Hi, They are book ends. If you want I'm sure they would be OK in a fire pit....they are solid steel metal. Ron

Could 2 of these be used as bookends? Thanks!

Depending upon what size books you want to use them for, absolutely!! They are big and heavy enough for lighter books. Hope this helps!! Have a great day.
