Buy this - it doesn't have ground loop issues.
This is one of the precious few unpowered 2.5mm headsets with a boom microphone on the market which doesn't have a shared ground between the microphone and the earpieces. For that reason alone, it's deserving of your business. The TRS jack integrated into the left earpiece is a TRRRS which has a true five-conductor setup in order to separate the grounds between the microphone and earpieces as long as you use the cable (provided by the manufacturer) which terminates in separated 2.5mm TRS connectors. This will avoid audio hopping from your earpieces into your microphone due to ground looping, but only if you avoid using the second cable provided with the headset. The sound quality is great, as should be expected from this brand, but there are a couple notable caveats: - First, the microphone will pick up some background noise and some loud high-pitch sound can physically carry between the left earpiece and the microphone if it's loud enough. - Second, the construction of the left earpiece does have some plastic pop/crack noises as you tilt your head between your shoulders. That's caused by the TRS jack being pointed directly downward so the wire bumps into your shoulder and puts just enough torque on the earpiece to make it move enough to make that sound. The jack should, ideally, be realigned in future models to prevent this from happening, but it's not a deal-breaker.

Cable unavailable
These headphones are light, comfortable, sound incredible, and the mic is top quality but the cable isn't available for purchase so I'm making a new cable tonight and that's a huge bummer for this price.

It's good quality
I've been using this for a few months now. Box says this is made in the Philippines. it's good value, comfortable around the head and ears, and has clear audio.

Pending the mic actually working.
After killing myself for two hours I've learned a few things. We're going with three stars because I do like the headset, but this doesn't change that analog needs to actually work, and right now it does not. The sound quality is fantastic, but I get zero mic signal. I've got a workaround, but regardless of the hell storm scenario that is having to purchase more hardware to fix this, it shouldn't BE a 'purchase more hardware to use all the features of your device' situation. And to be very clear, that is not Audio-Technica's fault in the slightest. ...but it is still completely enraging.

Punch above it's weight
First off the sound is very good for the price. I came from a headset that was almost 70 dollars more and these by far sound better. Super light l. Mic is a little on the low side but that can be adjusted in windows settings and adjust how far mic is from mouth. Mic and cable are removable only downside is the mic slider for on and off is a little confusing. You have to turn it towards off to turn it on and towards on to turn it off. And the volume wheel is small and not easy to locate or turn. But worth the trade off to me for the sound quality and how they feel while gaming for hours at a time.

Surprisingly poor quality for a Japanese brand of high esteem
I’ve heard many great things about Audio Technica as a brand. This headset is ridden with problems. Constantly have to tweak with the wires to properly hear out of both earmufs. The foremost design flaw is the headset band. It routinely comes disconnected and in one of the many times where I’ve had to reconnect it, the material snapped to a point where I can irrepressibly fix it. Very disappointing as my first exposure to the brand. Sad I’ll be returning to Razer as my choice of gaming peripherals, but at least their products last longer than 3 months.

Trash
Edit - Now the 3.5mm jack has flat out quit on me for no reason do not buy this crap. Audio is easily one of the best I've ever had but the microphone died out of nowhere Now the audio is crackling and popping only after 3 months, questionable if I'll buy a replacement or not.

Long cable didn't work
At first I legit thought they were broken or defects. Turns out it was the long cable the whole time. Ended up using the small cable it came with. bought a longer cord to fight this issue. I have a $140 pair of headphones that can match this one. Only downside to it. it doesn't support my large ears compared to this one. My friend recommended me it. It doesn't pick up my fan when gaming. The voice quality is good but you need to boost the mic sound to the max. At least for me, not for you? Bought it when it still in the $60. seem like I got a good deal at this point. I would highly recommend these gaming headphones. I don't believe, I'll ever find a replacement good as Technica, headphones anytime soon.

is an ok headset
Gaming wise is ok, in fps games this will be average headset, if you want something with competitive edge for footsteps in games there is something better in the market. Music wise, even using EQ doesn't help this headset, so if you are looking for something to enjoy music too, this is a hard "no". From what i already tried in the last 10 years of collecting headets and headphones some open back headphones + external microphone combos for similar price or a little bit more would be times better than this headset from ATH. Other headsets tried, that i think are better than GL3 gaming wise: Audio-Technica ATH-AG1X, Sennheiser Game One, Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (even better for music than GL3)

Great sounding headset for office work
I used to use Philips H9505 ANC headphones in the office. Loved them but headband broke and I couldn't find replacement for a long time... I'm very picky about sound quality so numerous popular Sony, Bose, JBL ANC headphones just didn't sound good to me especially for the price... Finally totally accidentally I bumped into the Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 review and decided to give them a try. Love them so far: Pros: - Great sound - clean and airy - great for all kinds of music. IMO these sound better than most ANC headphones which are 3 times more expensive... - Good ergonomics - headset is very light and fits perfectly on my (large) head. - Closed design - isolates well in the office environment, once I turn on the music I cannot hear anything else. Doesn't leak sound. - Microphone doesn't pick other conversations going on in the same office (...I have some very loud coworkers...) - Two cables included - long one with 2 connectors and a short one with single connector. Cables have flat surface (not braided) so they don't produce a sound when touching clothing/table. - Wired - don't need to charge anything/anytime, reliable connection. Cons: - Microphone is not foldable into the headset (to hide it when you don't need it) - Connector on the headphones looks wider than standard 3.5mm - not sure how easy to find replacement Notes: - The headphones have high sensitivity/low impedance so they don't require a headphone amp - you can plug them directly into PC/Notebook using the supplied cables and they sound loud and great... - I actually ended up buying a small/cheap headphone DAC/amp (Fosi) and plugging the headset into it. The amp has analog Bass/Treble tone control knobs which allows me to tune sound quality to my taste for different records. And yep those simple analog tone control blocks are IMO by far better than any software equalizers... Total cost of the headset with the amp is still about 1.5-2 times less than most popular Sony/Bose headphones and the sound is better.
