I love this epilator!!! I've had another epilator for years, and it was kinda weak compared to this one, slow and didn't remove everything. I hesitated to buy a new epilator, because I wasn't sure it would be any different. Well, I was wrong! I took me roughly 15 minutes to epilate both legs and remove maybe 90% of the (long enough) hairs. The result was decent, but my legs still weren't smooth as there were lots of very short hairs left. I thought well okay, the epilator probably won't be able to get them, so I'll do another session tomorrow. But then I noticed that even those very short hairs can be removed if I use the epilator VERY slowly and control the angle. So, to remove the rest 10% requires to be more specific and takes more time. Sometimes I need to go over the same area several times, but the epilator WORKS!! My old one just wasn't able to remove such short hairs. Overall, it takes about an hour to actually remove alllll the hairs, but I love the process in weird way, it's so meditating lol. I know some people find it painful, and I know what you mean! I've been epilating my legs since I was 15, and I remember how painful the first time was (lol...), my skin was incredibly sensitive. But after a few times it got better and I even started to enjoy the process (lol again!). Even if I skip a few MONTHS for one reason or another, my tolerance stays the same. I don't know how it works but yeah. No pain. But I want to warn people that this is just another epilator that works by removing hair, and literally all of them feel the same. You can't find one that works with no pain (in case you find it painful). So I'd recommend to do this: start slowly by preparing your skin. Pluck some hairs here and there using tweezers. This will 1) help you build some tolerance and 2) make it less painful to use the epilator since there will be fewer hairs left. Do this for a few days, just remove 10, 20 or 30 hairs every day from different areas. It's not as painful to pluck one hair at a time. Then when you think you're ready, shave your legs. NEXT day take a warm shower to make your skin softer. Then try to epilate. Hopefully, you won't feel much pain because the hairs will be very short (if they're still TOO short, try to epilate next day) and because you've prepared your skin and built some tolerance by plucking hairs. This was my method when I epilated my armpits for the first time, because it was literally impossible to epilate them with no preparation!! If it's still painful, try to keep the epilator at one area (do not move it). It will remove hairs for 1 sec and you will feel some pain for a short period of time, but after that there will be fewer hairs on that area, so you'll be able to tolerate it much better. Alternatively, try moving the epilator very quickly so that it removes very few hairs from various areas, not several hairs at the same time. Try to find what works best for you. If it's too overwhelming, stop and try next day, epilate every day for a couple of minutes. Trust me, you will soon be able to epilate legs like it's your hobby! I swear it's not painful at all, especially when I'm not lazy and epilate often while all the hairs haven't grown back yet. It's much easier to do this every day or at least twice a week than once a month. After the procedure, I moisturize my legs with the Kikumasamune emulsion (not the lotion/toner!). I'm in love with it, it's very cheap in stores with Asian skincare products, is easy to spread, has a cooling effect, absorbs really quickly, moisturizes and calms the skin down. I also use it on my face. A COUPLE OF CONS: - pretty loud. Just be aware if this factor is important for you. I'd prefer it to be quieter. - the built-in light can't be turned off. Not a deal breaker, just would be nice if it was possible to turn it off sometimes. When the room is well-lit, the little light makes it harder to see the hairs, but again, I'm totally okay with that. - not cordless. I'd give it 4.5 starts if I could but decided to give 5 stars for overall performance and the results. I hope they make a quieter and cordless version one day!

Better than shaving or waxing for sure. I have thick hair that grows back super fast. I also have sensitive skin that is irritated by shaving. This lasts a good two weeks. It takes about 20 minutes per leg, lower leg only. Only a couple minutes for underarms. This one is better than the Panasonic in my opinion, it gets hairs faster. yes it's painful but bearable for me. For ingrown hairs you have to heavily exfoliate the day before and a few days after (I use a korean towel), it's the same as shaving. I like using it dry bc I can watch TV and I wouldn't want to do it 40 min in the shower. The trimmer is also a really nice addition. It does pull a little because it's dry only.

The design and function of the product are great, however it may not be suitable for areas of my body that are thicker than others. I was well aware that this would be painful and it was! I started out by epilating my leg hair which is very fine. I did not complete shaving an entire leg but proceeded to finish the next day. It definitely takes longer than shaving with regular razors, but that will depend on how much time you have, the setting of the device, and how much pain you can tolerate in one sitting. A Plus? Using the epilator on my leg left it very smooth and clear of any root hair specs that razing leaves behind. For the cost and the number of uses you can get off this product, it is worth the cost. I would recommend exfoliating your legs a day or two prior to shaving and in general ensuring that your skin is in a healthy condition. I had dry skin (potentially ringworm) when I used this and decided it wasn't the best time to use it. I will try again when that's' cleared up because I did like the results! The Bikini area? Uhmm, this is where the pain and sweating started. Again, I anticipated the pain and exfoliated my pubic area a day prior to attempting this. I made sure to stretch my skin upwards as suggested and that seemed to help a bit. The outer areas that make the bikini line was a little painful but not enough to make me stop. However, as I started getting closer to the center of my pubic bone where there is less flesh the pain was unbearable and it started making my hands and pubic area sweat, thus making it more difficult for the epilator to work properly. Even with multiple passes, it wouldn't pull my hair out and caused a little bleeding in my hair follicle. I spent 30 mins on this area and it didn't even get a third of the way done, so I called it quits and reverted back to a razor. For reference, my hair is thick in that area and I am prone to hair follicles holding 2-3 hair strands at a time.

It's challenging to rely solely on the light provided to spot and remove all hairs effectively. I found myself using my phone camera in conjunction with the epilator's light to ensure I didn't miss any spots. A brighter built-in light would enhance the device's usability. Stubborn hair removal: Despite its effectiveness, there were instances where some hairs stubbornly refused to be plucked, no matter how many times I went over them. Having a pair of tweezers included with the epilator for these last, elusive hairs would be a valuable addition to the package. i have to say that i didn't at all hate using this epilator. as someone who was just trying to get something for cheap, just to have something that worked ok to see how i liked using an epilator, this was perfectly alright. it breaks hairs at a significant rate, and it takes a couple passes to get everything, but it does successfully pluck a slight majority of the hairs in my experience. it also did that without being nearly as abrasive on the skin as the other epilator i've tried at the same price point as this, which i feel is extremely valuable in a budget epilator, and i feel that this model is a great entry point if you're not so sure about things. HOWEVER. there are some substantial downsides that i want to bring up. the fact that it takes a few passes to get the hairs means that it can take a long time to get things sufficiently epilated in comparison to more efficient epilators. like, i shave my arms and legs with the epilator, which can take me upwards of around 2 hours at times, and given that the epilator breaks a decent amount of the hairs, your hair will start to grow back sort of quickly. although the growth will be much thinner than if you just shaved, it's still something to note. additionally, in my use, i found it not quite delicate enough for use in places with sensitive skin, like the bikini area. additionally, mine didn't last super long. this is definitely partially my fault, i often left the epilator plugged in when not in use, which probably slightly increased the wear on the cable and the power jack over time, but i'm really not sure how significant that is to the speed of deterioration. in 7 months, the connection between the cable and the jack in my unit has started to get pretty finnicky, which has made using it a bit more frustrating, and at the end of the day, that is the consequence of design decisions. at some point, the design must take in to account the way that the model is actually used by its users, so i feel that the use of a more resilient power cable/jack is a reasonable thing to expect, to a reasonable extent at least. and all that said, it's also not *that* cheap! i do think the price is sort of reasonable, given the high price of other models and the fact that it's one of the few braun epilators that can be used while plugged in which could be a selling point for people. but given that you could spend 50% more for the silk epil 5, which can only be used wirelessly, but likely performs slightly better and has a significantly more resilient power cable that will be put under less stress over its lifetime, it becomes just a little bit harder to justify the shortcomings of the silk epil 3. that being said, if the $20 is a meaningful price decrease for you, you don't need to use this in water or away from a power outlet, and you're willing to put up with its weaknesses (and maybe if you're able to maintain the power connector!) this does have a reason to exist. i'm not wholly unhappy with my purchase, but i do wish the product could be improved so that it may be a bit more justifiable at its price.

To begin - I am moderately hairy -thick and coarse and am no stranger to pain. I have done my own waxing - including learning some hard lessons during at home Brazilians. I am also well tattooed, do marital arts, and have birthed children. I also make my own shave soap that is great but frankly, I am sick of razors and the waste they create so I just threw in the towel and grabbed this little gem. This thing was a brand-new sensation for me. First of all - it looks like an inspiration for a device used in the SAW movies and I was a little scared to touch it to my skin. It feels like there should be some kind of guard on it. Nope. I finally just said "screw it" and dove in since I was sick of my legs looking like a cactus - its 100 degrees out today and I want to wear shorts and a swimsuit without prickly chub-rub. This is what I found... Waxing is one big strip o discomfort... this little device makes you feel every hair as it screams for its life embedded comfortably, and in my case deeply, in my legs and nether regions. My husband who is a seasoned firefighter/paramedic came to check on me 3 times given the noises I must have been making. After a while of being in pain I will just start to laugh (its a defense mechanism I guess) . When I got to that point he just left me alone. Did I mention I was doing this on my back deck?? (don't worry we live in the woods) because I realized that there is no place for the hair to be stored so it falls onto the floor like the needles of a dried up Christmas tree and the dogs were getting too nosey. At any rate - it took SEVERAL passes and I had to force myself to slow down. Places I thought would hurt were not bad (top of toes - back of knees) Places I knew would hurt (knees, top of bikini area - the very private in-between) they hurt but never to the point where I had to stop. What is nice is that I could control where I was going and how far in I was going... with wax, once its on... tough toenails - ya gotta rip it off. I liked the control. I also like that I can do this for about 1/6 the cost of a single wax job round my way (if I'm not doing it myself) with no sticky mess and now I own this hair eating machine. I also like the fact that I can bust this thing out with no effort and do the touchups. I am not smooth as silk - I think I will need to use this consistently to get that - but it's a good start and Ill keep going. It is clear subsequent uses will be much easier and less painful. I will never use this on my pits as I am way too sensitive there. I may also still wax the starfish because my flexibility isn't what it used to be and this thing requires a decent angle and the ability to stretch the skin whilst using it. Overall - its done its job with tolerable pain. If you can take waxing - you can take this. If you have never waxed and this is your first go with ripping your hairs out... you are in for a treat but its almost better because its self inflicted and allows more control over the surface area. I can update concerning longevity after I use it several times. Good price - Works well - Will save you $$ in the long run if you keep up with it.

I love this tool!! I’m brand new to epilating, but not hair removal from the root. My main method of hair removal for most of my life has been waxing. I’m a hairy woman with course, thick hair. I dislike the 5 o’clock shadow of shaving, so I’ve only used it periodically and in case of emergencies. I’ve also used threading (the most painful method), at home laser, and shaving in emergencies (but my least favorite hair removal method). I’m brand new to epilating but thankfully have thinned out my hair from consistent waxing. I will compare the pros and cons of epilating to waxing. Keep in mind, today is my second day of using the machine. -yesterday I used the machine for my chin hairs and sideburns. It was sensitive, not painful. About equal discomfort as waxing, less than individual testing (because of the built-in massage?). I was nervous because of the negative reviews, so I went slow. It went well, no skin irritation. Since yesterday went well, I fired up the epilator at the high speed this evening and went nuts! Here’s what I’ve gathered this far: Pros: 1. Time saver Today, I completed both of my legs (thigh and calf), my forearms, my cheeks, and upper lip… ALL in about an hour!!! This is significantly less time than waxing (which I’ve been practicing for the last 15 years)! Remember you save time in the prepping & cleaning up after waxing either (I.e. warm the wax, wait for the right temp, showering & cleaning the residue of the body and workspace). 2. Mess-free! I did this while watching TV on the couch. Sure, there’s probably a bunch of hair in my living room, but it’s probably minimal compared to how much my two dogs shed. It’s also better on my hardwood floors than it is In the shower Drain (as with shaving). 10x better than the wax residue all over the place! 3. Cheap!!. I spent 1.5 times as much I’d spend on a bag of wax. During the summer months, I typically go through a bag in a couple of months . If this machine lasts me 3 months I’d get my moneys worth (not insulting the cost of the wax warmer, sticks, etc.) 4. Works on shorter hair (1/8”) than waxing (1/4”), so it’s better for exposed areas. Con: -this model us not battery operated! I was under that impression, but that part just looks like false advertising Honestly, I really like this method a lot so I will probably get a battery operated version so I can use this while sitting in the the car! Hopefully I don’t get toO many ingrown hairs. I prepped my skin by exfoliating in the shower before starting my legs. I can update my review after several treatments. Overall a very positive experience and you can’t go wrong for $35! I was ready to drop the thousands of dollars for professional laser…. I’m making this my new go to method!

It has been over 20 years since I tried using an epilator. This time it worked well for me unlike the last time. Maybe since I am 69 it did not hurt as much, lol. I have essential tremors and trying to pluck my face area has gotten very hard since I shake so much. So I tried this and was surprised it works ok. I use on the low speed and sort of dab it on the face areas I am trying to pluck. The chin area I can use the sweeping motion going slow. It helps to hold the skin tight over the area you are working on. My skin is not tight anymore. However, the mustache area is very sensitive and hurt to do it this way. So I experimented and found the dab method worked for me. I just do dabs quickly on low speed over the area. (Like you do with a bingo marker) It still hurts some but considering I can not pluck it like I have done for years, this epilator with work for now. I have to say I really like to for my legs. Trying to shave is hard with the tremors and this works great. I have not tried on my arm pits as I do not grow much hair there so one swipe with the razor once a week works. I had laser done on my pits years ago and hardly any hair grows there. I also had laser done on my legs so not much growth now and the epilator is perfect. I did have laser on my face numerous times, but there is still too much hair growth to be happy. I even have done electrolysis on my face numerous times but I think it is my genetics that I keep growing so much hair there. So for now the epilator is my new go to to keep me looking like I want. The one thing I can say is a con.....is this thing is LOUD!!!! Maybe a more expensive one would be quieter but I am more interested in staying low price. Maybe I just need to turn the radio up with I use it...Lol.

Wouldn't really write a review for a product but this one is amazing. Going from a cheap knockoff brand that ripped my skin out and left a huge scar I was deterred from epilators. I was getting frustrated over shaving my light hair so on a whim tried this one out from a friend recommendation. It does everything so well, works on underarms and legs and arms amazing. Couldn't recommend this product enough.

Very good. I liked the attachments. 10 years ago, I used to have an old Philips Satinelle that hurt SO BAD, I couldn't even use it. But as I saw some reviews about this new one being a little bit more painless, I thought to give it a try. It hurts WAY LESS than what I remember, it's not totally painless for me (each person has different levels of tolerance to pain), but it works well and it's possible to use. My mom used it for many, many years and she doesn't have hair at all in her body now. So, I'm hoping that with time the body hairs tend to disappear, not completely of course, but at least some of it. For facial hair, it broke a little bit my skin but I imagined that since it's a very sensitive area. But overall, great product. In the future, I think I'm going to invest in the fancier and more expensive versions if everything goes well with this one.
